Luka kissed her hand tenderly and gave a heavy sigh. Abby lay her head on his chest, catching sight of the moon through his window. Their clothes were lying strewn across the floor, abandoned like the lives they left at the door.
There's no time for putting clothes away when you've entangled yourself in an irresistible love affair.
He closed his eyes, inhaling her sweet scent. Abby caught a glance at
the clock as he pulled her in closer to him. The digital numbers read 2:56am.
"SHIT!" She groaned and scrambled to get out of his arms. Luka saw
the clock and realised what caused her panic. "Carter's shift ended three
hours ago!"
He sat up and watched her pull her pants on and search for her sweater.
"What are you going to tell him?"
"I don't know," Abby mumbled. "Maybe that I was with some friends."
Luka reached out and pulled her back towards her, kissing her strongly on the lips. They both froze there for a moment, silently. Finally she pulled herself away, "I'm sorry, Luka… You working tomorrow?"
He nodded.
"Well, I'll see you at work then."
They kissed one more time and she bolted out the door, thinking about how she was going to explain this to Carter.

Abby puffed on her cigarette contently, when she felt him approach behind her.
"So, what did you tell him?" His thick accent said quietly.
"That I had bumped into an old friend from college, and we lost track of time."
"He believed it?"
She shrugged, "He had to. He doesn't want to think otherwise."
An elderly man with a tattered brown jacket shuffled through the snow to enter the doors of the ER, but other than that, the ambulance bay was dead. Luka pulled his lab coat around himself tighter as the flakes of snow started to come down faster. "You all right?"
Abby exhaled slowly, "Yah, I'm fine."
"Abby, are you sure you want to keep sneaking around like this?"
"I don't have much of a choice, Luka."
"You don't have to stay with him…"
Abby didn't say word.
A young couple left the ER, oblivious to what was going on around them. They seemed so oblivious to the world around them, enthralled by each other. Wrapped with their affections for each other.
Nothing else in the world matters when you're so madly in love.
"I should go back inside." She put her cigarette out and headed to go in.
Luka followed behind her slowly.

When she finally heard the sound of the shower going, Abby quickly picked up the phone and dialled his number.
Luka groggily answered his phone. «Hello?»
"Hey, Luka, it's me…"
Through the phone she could hear him smile. Abby grinned, "He's got a shift today… I was wondering…"
Luka sighed, "Abby… You know I love you?"
"What's wrong Luka?"
"This can not keep going on like this.." His voice trailed off.
"We can talk about it when I get there." Abby soon heard the shower turn off. "I gotta go."
