My Heart's Desire

Disclaimer: I do not own Avatar: the Last Airbender

This is my first fan fic, so I think it kinda sucks. Well, please R&R!! Thanks!!

P.S. This entire is in Katara's POV, unless directed otherwise.

Water. Fire. Two elements, so different, yet so similar. Both rivaling in power and skill to control. Who knew that two vastly different people, one from each element, would come together to form one? No one did, which made their relationship all the more thrilling. Where will this journey together lead them? - Anywhere their hearts desire.

Katara awoke to a clear, crisp morning in the campsite. The birds were out, Sokka and Aang were happily chatting away near the campfire, Appa was lounging about, Momo was eating nuts, and it seemed as if nothing was wrong. But of course, this was never the case. The problem wasn't something the others were aware about, but rather, an emotional problem. Lately, she had been having strange feelings toward a certain banished prince.

'What is wrong with me?' she thought. 'Why am I thinking and feeling these things toward him? I shouldn't be having these wishes to just kiss him, for him to hold me, have him say how beautiful I am, have him - no, I can't want these things. It's wrong. Zuko wants to capture my best friend and will stop at nothing to do so. But, I just can't help to think what would happen if he wasn't banished and wasn't chasing us all over the world. I wonder if he has a soft heart underneath that mask of his. Maybe he even has heartfelt feelings towards someone. He, for certain, doesn't have any feelings, except hatred, towards me. But what if he does? Even if he did, no one would understand and accept us. He's fire. I'm water. Water and fire don't mix. ' She sighed and slumped down on the log she was sitting on. After a few minutes, and after realizing that she still needed to clear her mind some more, she decided to go practice her waterbending in the river a couple yards away from the campsite.

"Alright, Katara, but be careful." warned Sokka.

" I will. Don't be such a scaredy-cat. It's not like I can't protect myself. In case you forgot, I'm a master waterbender, remember?" Katara teased.

"I know, but it's my job to be overprotective. That's what big brothers are for."

" Okay then. I'll be back in a couple of hours." And with that, she left.

A couple minutes later, she came across the calm, crystal-clear river. Wanting to clear her mind as soon as possible, she stripped down to her undergarments and quickly began to waterbend. She started with a simple water whip, but soon, went to more advanced moves. After tiring herself out, and clearing her mind, she decided to have some fun. So, she started to dance with the water, swirling the water around her body as she moved. She was so entranced by the movements of the water, she temporarily forgot all about the outside world. But, her trance was soon shattered when she heard a twig snap behind her. She spun around quickly, dropping the water, and stared into the eyes of her intruder. She was shocked to learn that it was...
