My whole life, I always loved the stage,
Thought there was nothing better than the light and the audience's applause.
But now that I think of my past,
I know that I was living an empty life,
Not even a life,
Without you.
I love you. . .
I. . . LOVE you!
But the time flies as my dreams begin to die.
I feel it in my bones, the way they shake and give out.
I taste it in the coppery blood that drips from my palm.
I see it in the eyes of Harold and Marie.
I'm dying. . .
I have known it for years, smiled upon it as a way to be free.
Only now do I know that I was wrong,
But there's nothing I can do.
By this time next year,
All I shall give to the world is another body for it to put in the ground.
How I would love to wake up in your arms every morning, every day,
Whispering "I love you" into your ear and to kiss your sweet lips.
But these lips are turning pale and cold.
I'm beginning to pack for a trip that I can never return from,
But know that I love you.
I regret nothing in my life because there was you.
You erased all my past, tainted with so much evil.
I'm only sorry that I can't be with you much longer,
And the one you love must be taken away.
I just want to see you once more, but I know it's impossible.
I hurt you. . .
I never loved the Duke, or any of the men who gave me diamonds.
But you gave me a different gift.
You gave me hope, and love. . .
A gift I never even dreamed would be addressed to me.
So don't let those tears stain the sweetest eyes I've ever seen,
And never think for one moment that you're all alone,
For I'll never leave your side.
I loved you every moment:
And for that I can never thank you enough.
