Chapter one

As the train left the station, I closed my eyes. I was about to leave everything I knew, to go to this school.

Deep down I knew this was best, but I wanted so badly to be back home with my parents. I sighed, brushing my red hair behind my ear.

"C'mon rose! Lets find a compartment before all the others are gone!" Called out my annoying cousin James.

"Okay, I'm coming." I whispered.

The train was busy with people everywhere. I knocked in to almost everyone in the corridor. Several people stared at me. Or was it my vivid red hair?

Keeping my head down I followed my cousins. Albus' face was turning green every time someone looked at him.

Finally we found a compartment that was empty.

"Hey Al, you okay?" James asked in the process of stomping on Ablus' foot.

"M' fine." Albus Groaned.

"Good. Man I can't wait to see your faces when we get there! Just try not to get eaten by the Giant squid. I don't want to have to tell Mum and aunt Hermione the bad news." James said.

James was always trying to scare us with horrifying tales of Hogwarts. Albus was usually the only one who actually believed him.

As James and Albus argued about what Hogwarts was really like; I gazed out the window thinking of all the friends I would make, what house I would be in (Gryffindor of course), and about that weird kid Dad was talking about. I couldn't remember his name but all I knew was that I wasn't supposed to get friendly with him. No problem there, he looked like a drowned blonde rat.

We all jumped when the bell of the snack trolley came.

"Hey Rosie, go get us some snacks!" Said James.

Blood rushed to my face in anger. "Why do I have to do it?"

"Because you're a girl, and I'm having a very important conversation." Replied James lazily.

"Fine!" I yelled, Stomping out of the compartment. I took extra care to slam the door.

Stepping into the small hallway I went to find the snack trolley. As I looked around I saw a girl about my age talking to a boy. She looked terrified.

Suddenly our compartment door opened.

"Rose what in the name of Merlin is taking so long?"

I jumped around and saw James.

"Ugh you just can't leave a job to a girl. They see a shiny light and then go blank." Suddenly he saw the boy and girl.

"No way!" He whispered.

He walked over to them with an arrogant; yet joyful look on his face.

"Your Scorpius aren't you?" James asked.

"So what if I am?" The Scorpius kid turned around.

Man his parents must have never let him near a single ray of sunlight; his hair was pale blond, his skin was pale to the extreme, and his eyes were a cold blue. I felt sorry for him. No one deserved to be that skinny either.

"That means your Malfoys kid aren't you?" A strange grin was slowly spreading across James face.

"Yea and judging by your awful hair, I'm guessing your Potters kid."

"I'm Potter's kid alright!" James stood up a little straighter.

By now a small ring of people had gathered around us.

"I don't see why you're so proud with looks like that." Replied Scorpius.

"Look who's talking vampire."

A few people snickered. A pale pink rushed to Scorpius' cheeks.

I could tell this was going to get ugly fast.

"James stop! Lets go back to our compartment before Al has a panic attack." I waited hopefully as many emotions crossed James face.

But to my surprise Scorpius was the one to agree with me.

"Well as you're an ugly Potter I have no reason to talk to you anymore. Good day." And with a fleeting glance at me he stalked off, down the corridor.

James followed me back to our compartment, muttering something about where "That foul show off" should go.

Sitting back down in my seat, I looked over at Albus.

To James pleasure, he was talking to the girl that looked scared a while back.
