Naraku
It all started with a miko and a hanyou;
A most unseemly pair.
They were often seen together,
Although for worse of ware.
The miko Kikyou, for that was her name,
Was incredibly spiritually strong.
She had an aura of immense purity.
That, I made sure, would not last for long.
The hanyou Inuyasha; half youkai, half human,
Detested by all who be.
A half-breed, a mutt, a mongrel even;
Half inu; half dog, was he.
And of course, I shan't forget, the precious Shikon no Tama.
The object of so many evil desires,
The Jewel of Four Souls that governed our fates,
That led us through the place of ever-burning fires.
For it was Kikyou to whom the task was given
Of purifying that jewel.
And Inuyasha, her constant shadow,
To whom all my hate and anger would pool.
For Inuyasha had planned to steal the jewel,
Before he met Kikyou,
And use it to become a full youkai.
A path down which he chose not to go.
Instead, they chose to use the jewel, so they could stay together;
He would become human.
Doing so would release Kikyou from her duty,
Becoming a normal woman.
This way they could remain together;
Become normal people with normal lives.
Of course, this I could not allow
As the local villain with all his knives.
As Onigumo I'd lain paralysed in a cave.
While affections between the two grew.
Every day Kikyou fed and watered me,
And almost instantly I knew.
They would not live happily ever after,
Not if I could help it.
For I would make the miko and the jewel mine.
From this goal, I would not quit.
And so I gave my body to the youkai,
In return for movement and power.
And I became the most powerful youkai;
Naraku – from whom all cower.
I foiled their plans, and took the jewel,
Polluting it with hate and blood.
Leaving the village in ruins,
Its people in the mud.
In my craze for power I made a grave mistake;
I attacked the miko first;
Mortally wounding her, I took the jewel
And continued to quench my thirst.
To add to the turn of events, I came as one she knew.
Her precious hanyou was the one she saw
Take the jewel and slink away
Leaving her amidst the gore.
And next I appeared to the half-breed mutt
As none other than the maiden.
I broke their trust in o short a time
Their bond doubt laden.
The hanyou attacked the village
Thinking he'd been betrayed.
He took the jewel I'd earlier replaced,
This was noticed, and with his life he payed.
The miko had made it back to the village
Her heart full of sorrow
When she saw him flee with the jewel
She used her last strength and shot him with a sacred arrow.
He was pinned by the arrow to the old Goshinboku;
A tree that lived in many ages.
The arrow sealed him there, but did not kill,
Just made him sleep while outside it rages.
And Kikyou, her life spent, followed him into death
And instead of leaving it corrupted, as was my plan,
She had the Shikon no Tama burned with her body,
Taking it with her, as off I ran.
50 years later, I get word that the hanyou was revived;
By a strange girl in strange clothes.
She is a priestess of great power, from a far away land,
And she attracts many foes.
With her the jewel has returned, also shattered by her hand.
So Kagome and Inuyasha search for the shards now.
As Naraku once again, with greed and hate,
Will find, complete, and use the jewel. This I do vow.
This is my first piece. Criticism is welcome, but I can do without flamers. If you don't like it then you simply don't have to review. Thanks!
