Gita mainly ignored the trio sitting around the kitchen as she prepared everything for a veggie chilli. It seemed they rotated where they hung out at some afternoons - mostly when Sarah Jane got annoyed at them or had work and kicked them out - and today was their day at the Chandra's house.
"Wait, so everything is like veggie around here?" Clyde looked shocked. Apparently manly men ate meat and potatoes, not carrots and beans or so he'd told Luke repeatedly.
"Mostly." Rani shrugged from her spot sitting on the counter. "Dad makes steaks for him or gets pizza with meat. Mum'll cook chicken sometimes."
"So what's with the veggie then?" Clyde demanded, eying the pot on the stove with some distrust.
"I don't like the taste of meat." Rani replied evenly. She understood a second too late the ammo she'd given him and couldn't take it back.
"Hah, feel sorry for any boyfriends." Clyde joked, realizing only as it came out what he'd said, but more importantly who he said it in front of. He clapped his hands over his mouth and looked in horror at Rani who looked positively mortified; normally she would have scoffed and punched him in the arm but with Gita around.
He went the normal, honourable teenage route- he ran, Rani hopping off the counter and followed him.
Gita turned around from the cutting board and eyed Luke, one eyebrow raised slightly.
"Uh...hehe?" Luke sat down the apple he'd be messing with and followed his friends, yelling after them for running off.
Gita heard the door slam shut and couldn't help but laugh. Haresh and Sarah Jane might hold in their heads the ideals that the kids were perfect innocent little angels, but she now had proof they were typical teenagers.
"What's so funny?" Haresh asked as he sat down his briefcase and entered the kitchen.
"Oh, nothing my dear!" Gita greeted him with a kiss and a smile.
She had to give Clyde a few points, that was funny.
