A/N: I own nothing… This was something I wrote for Artemis Fowl, but never posted, and the level of angst fits Bones more anyway… It's AU episode 9! If you like it, review!
Cry on Command
A perfect curve, clear, sliding down, down, down; leaving a trail of unseen molecules behind.
A head turned away, so, no matter how small it is, he can't see the water molecules committing a slow suicide.
He'll never know how he hurt me, the day he said goodbye.
A hand, wiped across a cheek, trying to scrape it all away, without success.
I'm sorry, I don't love you now…
I'm sorry I just don't care anymore…
'He never did care.' She thinks bitterly, 'he was just stringing me along, until the girl he loved, the perfect one, said yes.'
She turned her back on him, a sign of trust, a sign of rejection.
Mixed signals messing up a careful friendship…
"Bones, please… I thought that you would understand. I thought you liked Hannah? I thought you were friends? Why this… distaste?"
'Why?' fury built inside her, threatening to burst. 'How could he be so blind? He was supposed to be smart!'
She saw that he checked his watch from the reflection in the glass, "Go." "What?"
"Go to her, you're planning to meet her, go." Her words, calm, emotionless, precise, he blinked surprised.
"How did you-?"
"I'm not stupid, go."
She had just been gone for seven months. Only seven months for him to get over her, to fall in love, to leave her behind. To scar her, but himself, he was healed, happy. Wasn't that all she wanted? 'Not like this,' she swears, 'I didn't want to feel like this.' Is it worth it, now that he's happy?
Time heals all wounds, except for the ones that are left –gaping- when we die.
She died inside when she first saw Hannah with him, his face. No wonder she hasn't healed.
He watched her hand move up to cover her cheek, "Crying won't change anything, Bones."
"Go, Booth." She watched him shake his head and leave.
No matter what you think, I don't cry on command, and I don't lie.
