*Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep, Beep*
"Fuuck!" Lucy yelled, the sound of her alarm clock making her already throbbing head to hurt even more. She grabbed the little thing from the cabinet next to her bed and threw it across the room. Surprised that she didn't hear the sound of the shards falling to the ground she picked herself up and rested on her elbows to look in the direction she knew was supposed to be a mess. To Lucy's surprise, the alarm clock was still intact, but it was a new one. An alarm clock made of plastic. Lucy chuckled. The maid probably got tired of cleaning the pile of shards every morning so she bought a plastic one.
"Smart."
She got up slowly and went to take a shower. After over 40 minutes Lucy was ready with showering and adding some light make-up on her already beautiful face. She got dressed with the uniform. Lucy hated the girl's uniform. The skirt was too short and the boys would stare at her from behind whistling and making weird noises, which annoyed her to no end. She would mostly end up kicking their asses and be sent to the principal's office.
What she hated more than the skirt was the stupid pink tie. Seriously? Pink? Most of the time she would use it to pull her hair up in a ponytail. Action that would –again- end up with her in the principal's office.
Lucy grabbed the almost empty pack of cigarettes from her drawer and went downstairs to eat something.
"Morning, Lucy!" She heard her father's voice coming from behind his newspaper. The nerve the old man had to talk to her. She hated him and she made it pretty obvious every time. He just won't understand. After cheating on her mother, not once, several times, he still thought that there was a chance that his daughter would forgive him.
As if that would ever happen.
Not even bothering to look at the old and annoying man she mumbled a "Whatever." and ignored the rest of the bullshit that came from his mouth after that.
The blonde made herself some pancakes and took them in the living room so she won't have to stay in the same room with him.
"Lucy don't eat here, you're going to make a mess." Hiroko, the maid said coming from behind Lucy. Lucy raised a perfect eyebrow at the woman who was now standing in front of her.
"You are being paid to clean this house so fuck off!" Lucy said devouring her last pancake, making sure that more crumbles would fall from the plate and from her mouth so the maid will have more work to do. "And that's not the only thing you're paid for." Lucy looked at the woman and smirked. By the face Hiroko made, Lucy knew that she understood what she meant.
The so-called maid was in fact her father's whore. One of the many he's had, to be more precise. Even after cheating on her mother and causing her death, the old man couldn't keep his hands for himself. He would change the maid by the end of the month. Usually this long it takes for him to get bored with a woman.
Lucy stood up and placed the dirty plate on the table where her feet were resting until now. She walked to the door and put a black leather jacket on and stuffed her feet in some black combat boots that were closer to her.
The moment she stepped outside the house the blonde lit a cigarette and made her way to hell -my bad- her way to school.
She didn't get too far when a well-known voice called her from behind.
"Well, look who's here, my little Blondie." A beautiful girl with wavy brown hair said. Damn, if Lucy were a boy she would definitely fall for this girl.
"Cana, what's up?" Lucy asked pulling the said girl in for a hug. She took the cigarette packet from the pocket of her jacket and handed one to Cana.
Cana pushed Lucy's hand back.
"Girl, you know I don't smoke. Come to me with a drink not with that smelly stick."Cana said laughing. Lucy shrugged and put it back in the pocket. Cana was a heavy drinker. She's been drinking for 3 years now. She doesn't even get drunk anymore. You have to give her an entire truck full of alcohol to get her drunk.
When Cana starts a drinking competition at a party, not even the most experienced drinker could win against her.
"I heard there's gonna be a party tonight. Are you going?" Lucy asked and looked at Cana. The girl was looking somewhere else and was frowning. When Lucy turned in the direction Cana was looking she couldn't see anything. She slapped Cana playfully on the arm to gain her attention.
"Hell yeah I'm coming! I have to talk to someone. See you later, okay?" The brown-haired girl said and took off running before Lucy could say anything.
"Okay." She murmured to herself. The stupid headache came back and Lucy realized that she forgot to take some pills to ease the pain. Partying until the early hours of the morning and sleeping for less than three hours turned out to be a bad idea. A very bad idea.
By the time she arrived at school, Lucy smoked another two cigarettes.
The moment she placed foot inside the school's building some boys started to look at her and whisper kinky things about her between themselves. Lucy was aware that she was beautiful and that she had a perfect body. But when they're staring at her like some hyenas it gets quite annoying.
She walked towards the group of boys with slow steps "Have you, by any chance, ever heard of a boy named Bora?" The boys nodded. "And do you also know why he was in the hospital for like, two weeks?" The boys looked at each other and mouthed a 'no'. "Let me tell you then. He's been hospitalized because he was hitting on me. And guess what? I beat him." With every word she was getting closer to the guys. They were scared because when Lucy yelled "BOO" they started to run like they just saw death.
She laughed and continued to walk to her class. Once there she sat at the back of the class. That's her usual place. Standing in the back the teachers won't see when she is sleeping.
The teacher came shortly after her and with him entered two other boys. New students. Lucy already hated them. More students meant more people who could try to pry into her business. Since the beginning of high school, more people tried to befriend her. Lucy ignored them all and every time some other kid had tried to stick his nose into her life annoyed her.
She wasn't what you call a 'popular' girl. She was a badass. Most of the kids in the high school feared her. There were those kids that would run after seeing her, or those stupid guys that are trying to prove to her that they are not afraid when in reality they are shaking in fear like a dog after a bath. There are the 'popular' girls that hate and envy her for her good looks and the fact that the boys are drooling over her. The girls that look up to her and are trying to gain more confidence in themselves so they could be even half as feared and respected as her.
She has friends, of course, but only people she's known for a long time. New people who are trying to break into her circle of friends are really annoying.
"We have new students. Please introduce yourself." The teacher said in a bored tone and made a sign with his hand for the two of them to start talking.
At a closer look, Lucy realized that she actually knows one of the two boys. She knows him very well. He is one of her dear friends. Best friends actually. The last time she saw him was when they almost got arrested for driving under the influence. This was almost a year ago. With some wanted and unwanted help from her father, they both were cleared of any charges.
"Holly shit! Is that you man?"Lucy asked and stood up from her seat. Ignoring the stares from the rest of the kids in the class and the scowl from the teacher at her chose of words, she walked in front of the class. She couldn't pass by the other new student. He was standing in front of her. Because he was so tall she almost couldn't see past him and look at her friend.
The guy in front of her was scratching the back of his neck and was looking at her trying to figure out who she was and how she knew him. The stupid thought that she was talking about him. And what was more stupid, his hair was pink. Fucking pink!
"Uhm, I don't think I know yo-" He started but was cut off by Lucy.
"Dude, move the hell out of my way before I make you… pinkie." She warned the guy and when he didn't make any sign that he was going to move, Lucy pushed him away and walked in front of her friend. He was laughing, probably because of the nickname Lucy had found for the other boy.
"Long time no see." He said after he stopped from laughing. He smiled at her gently and patted her on the head like one would do to his pet.
Lucy slapped his hand away, but smiled nonetheless."It is you indeed. Man... I haven't seen you in almost a year Laxus." She was about to continue the conversation when the teacher cleared his throat from behind her to gain everyone's attention.
"Enough! Go to your seat. All of you."Mr. Corley, the teacher said and proceeded to go sit on his usual chair behind the big desk at the front of the class, but what Lucy said made him stop in his tracks, but not for too long.
"We were talking right now. Can't you see?"
Aside from Pinkie who looked shocked by what she just said, the other students along with Laxus and Mr. Corley seemed used to her behavior. They weren't even a little taken aback, to Pinkie's surprise. Laxus has known her long enough to know what she's capable of doing and/or saying. The class looked like this was something far from new. The teacher looked the same. Lucy acting up and making a joke out of everything that wasn't important to her was just…normal.
"Out Heartfillia." The man simply said. After all this time, kicking Lucy Heartfillia out of his class has become as easy as breathing. He didn't even bother to send her to the principal. Mr. Corley already knew that she won't go.
Lucy walked towards the nearest person and asked for a paper and a pen. She wrote her number on the paper and handed it to Laxus. "I changed my number a few weeks ago."He nodded and put the little piece of paper inside his jean's pocket. Lucy stood up on her tiptoes and placed her hands on Laxus's broad shoulders to support herself. She gave him a quick peck on the cheek and started to walk towards the door.
"Aren't you forgetting anything?" Laxus asked. She turned around and asked confused. "What?"
"Your notebook or something… I don't know."
Lucy grinned at his question and with a raised eyebrow she asked the next question. "Do you actually think that I own such a thing? Laxus, my dear, do you see me as someone who would actually take notes during a class?"
He chuckled. The sound of his soft laughter making most of the girls in the class, if not all, to blush and make weird and gross noises. "I thought so. I was wondering if you were the same Lucy as the one I last saw. I'm glad to be back." Laxus winked at her, thing that made the girls send dirty looks in her direction.
"Glad to have you back." Lucy smiled at him and left the classroom leaving the door open intentionally to annoy the teacher.
"Now present yourself properly and close that damn door." Mr. Corley said letting out a breath, glad that Lucy wasn't going to throw a tantrum or something...
"Hi, I'm Natsu Dragneel. I hope that we will get along, and don't you dare call me with that stupid nickname." The pink-haired boy said the last part after he heard some boy call him that.
"I'm Laxus Dreyar. Please take care of me. I will make sure to take a very good care of you." Laxus said and smiled at the girls in the classroom.
Both of them went to their assigned place. Laxus was sent, for his pleasure, to the seat next to the one Lucy had stayed until a few minutes ago; and Natsu in front of the class next to a black-haired guy.
"Hey Pinkie, I'm Gray." The guy said once Natsu took his seat. He glared at the guy.
"Don't call me like that ice block." He said in a voice that would scare anyone.
"What was that?" Gray asked. He looked like he didn't even hear the tone Natsu had used.
"Silent!" The teacher yelled at the boys. Mr. Corley wasn't going to deal with two other troublesome kids.
Outside the class Lucy was wandering around the hallways looking for something to do or someone to talk with. Even though she decided not to befriend anyone from her school, there were still a few people she knew from before or from her crazy parties. She could count the people she knows in the school on the fingers of her hand.
She continued to walk aimlessly until the bell rang. She threatened more boys that even dared to approach her; and after that she left for her next class. Luckily for her, Laxus was in the same class.
"Hey Blondie! I missed you girl." He said in a voice soft with affection after Lucy sent away the boy who was sitting next to Laxus.
"I missed you too man! How come you are here?" She really missed Laxus. They've known each other for four years, and he was more precious to her than herself.
He smiled a sad smile. "After that incident…you know…" He didn't say anything and waited for her to nod her head for him to continue.
"Yeah I remember. How could I forget?" Lucy asked. With a few weeks before Laxus left and she last saw him, he was almost killed by Zeref, a gang leader… because of a girl.
"Anyway… I was a mess for a few months, but my grandfather had found me, I don't know how. He took me to a safe place and took care of me. I've been going to another high school until now, but gramps decided that maybe it's safe for me to come back now. I'm closer to him this way anyway."
Lucy only nodded. She didn't want to further the conversation anymore. It was a painful subject for him. That girl, that is.
"Do you have any friends here?" He asked her.
Lucy raised an eyebrow at his stupid question."Dude, have you forgotten that this is my town? I've lived here since I was born."
Laxus shook his head and laughed. "No, what I meant was do you have any friends in the school?"
Or maybe she was the stupid one for not understanding his not-so-stupid question.
"I have a few. You know… the ones who are brave enough to come to one of our parties." At her answer Laxus laughed again. He missed those parties. Crazy, very crazy and wild parties.
"How about Cana? Is she going to this high school as well?"
"Yes. I bet she's already drunk by now." They both started to laugh at this.
"What is going on over there?" Ms. Thompson asked. "Heartfillia, pay attention please."
Lucy shifted her gaze from Laxus to the annoying old hag from the front of the class. The fat woman had placed a hand on her waist, more like ball of fat, and was now walking toward Lucy. "How much should I pay?" The blonde asked when the woman arrived in front of her.
The whole class started to laugh, making the teacher boil in anger. No matter how many times Lucy would be an ass during her class, the woman won't get used to it like most of the teachers had already did.
Lucy knew that after her face turns red from anger, the next thing would be yelling. Lucy ducked her head before the woman started yelling and this way she avoided the spit coming from the raging old hag. "OUT MRS.!"
Lifting her head back up to look at the woman, Lucy raised her forefinger in the air. "Wait a sec." She said and turned her head towards Laxus.
"What did you say miss?" The teacher yelled again. She was by now an unrecognizable red and fat thing.
"I said shut up before you pour all of your spit on me!" Lucy yelled back at her. At this moment the class was laughing out loud. Lucy could barely hear her own thoughts. "All of you shut up!" She shouted again. All of the kids in the class stopped laughing, and even breathing for a few seconds, the instant Lucy's words left her mouth.
"What's your next period?" She asked Laxus. He was looking at her smiling. He really missed Lucy.
Seeing that he was too far in his own thoughts, Lucy slapped his arm.
"Biology." He said and grinned at her. Fierce as always, he thought.
"I don't have that, too bad. See you in the canteen then."
"Are you done Mrs. Heartfillia?" The woman, who kept her silence after being insulted by her own student, finally spoke.
"As you can see…" Lucy said standing up from her chair. Walking past her teacher she had to put a hand over her nose. The woman even smelled bad!
Lucy didn't notice the pink haired boy from the front of the class who was staring at her from the beginning of the class. If she would have seen him she would probably threaten him, or even better- beat him.
"What am I going to do now?" She thought. It was the second time that day when she's wandering aimlessly around the school. You'd think that until now she would have a spot just for her where she would go in situations like this. Well, yeah, she did have that kind of place. The back of the school. But it was under renovation now and she couldn't go there anymore.
At the end of the hallway she saw a guy with dark black hair talking with a white-haired girl. "Holly shit! Is that Zeref? What is he doing her? If he sees Laxus he's dead. Shit, I have to tell Laxus." Lucy ran back to her class. She burst the door open ignoring the teacher's order to leave the room and go to the principal's office.
"Laxus, Zeref is here!" She yelled in a panicked voice. Her heart was beating faster than normal, from running and from fear. Her hands were sweaty and she had to clench them in fists to stop them from shaking.
Laxus stood up and his face was pale. "What?" He barely managed to say a word; his voice was more like a whisper.
"He is here. HE IS HERE LAXUS! He will fucking kill you if he'll see you!" Lucy shouted.
The class was taken aback by the scene unfolding in front of them. They didn't have any idea what the two blondes were talking about, but the both of them looked really scared. Laxus slowly walked towards his friend. "What the fuck am I going to do?" He asked and grabbed the girl by her shoulders to keep himself on his shaky feet.
"We have to hide you. But where can I take you? He's at the front entrance so we can't leave the school." She said and placed a hand on her forehead in a useless attempt to calm herself and steady her breathing. She needs to be calm for her to find a good solution.
"Mrs. Heartfillia and Mr. Dreyar, would you mind explaining me what's going on?" The fat old lady asked.
"Shut the fuck up!" Both Lucy and Laxus turned at her at the same time and yelled.
Natsu stood up and walked next to the two. He had to flutter a hand in front of Lucy so she would notice him. She was trying so hard to figure out a way of escaping from the school that she only noticed him when he almost stuck his fingers in her eyeballs.
"I know a place where you can hide." He said casually, like Laxus's life didn't depend on this little thing. Seeing the calm on his face, Lucy almost grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, when Laxus spoke.
"Take us there!" Laxus said and let his hands fall from Lucy's shoulders.
"Follow me." They all left the class. Lucy and Laxus followed Natsu without any questions. He was walking so slow and relaxed.
"Are you, perhaps, making fun of us?" Lucy asked, feeling her anger rise to the surface. This guy looked like he didn't have a care in the world. He didn't even look back at her and just continued to walk.
He took them on the rooftop. Once they got there Lucy turned to look at Natsu who was leaning on the wall behind him with his hands shoved in his pockets.
"How did you know about this place Pinkie? You just got here today."
"I asked someone for a good place to ditch…" He shrugged, but Lucy noticed the look he shot her when she called him by that nickname.
"I see… Thanks for your help." She said and after that ignored him completely. She turned to look at Laxus who by now was white like a ghost.
"Did you talk with him after that day?" She asked. Laxus was pacing nonstop and he didn't even hear her speaking. Lucy walked in front of him but not even then did he stop to look at her. Seeing that he was not going to come back to reality she slapped him across the cheek. That brought some sense back into him.
"Damn girl! Strong as ever." He said rubbing the place where her hand left a mark on his cheek.
"I asked you if you had talked to him after he beat the shit out of you." Lucy repeated her question.
"Yeah. The next week after I have left. He beat the crap out of me again. And he wasn't alone this time. Half of the gang was with him. And I was alone. I stayed in the hospital for a fucking month. He said that if he sees me one more time he will kill me."
"And we both know he never jokes or break his promises. You're screwed man. I don't know if I can help you this time. He knows too many people. If I dare talk to him he would either kill me, beat me or put someone to fucking rape me." Even though she loves Laxus very much, she knows very well that if she messes with Zeref it will be the death of her.
"I know. I wouldn't ask you to help me anyway. This is too much for anyone. The only person we can ask for help is Gildarts." Laxus said running a hand trough his dirty blonde hair.
Lucy's eyes widened at the mention of Gildarts. That name brought up many unpleasant memories."Not him man. We can't ask for his help. You saw what had happened that time when we asked for his help. You remember what happened to me and Cana."
Remembering those terrifying days of her life she could feel tears forming in the corner of her eyes.
Seeing that pained look on her face Laxus placed a hand on her cheek and wiped the stray tear that fell down her face."You're right. I'm sorry. What else can we do?"
Lucy thought about it for a few minutes and after that she called after Natsu. He was still leaning on the wall listening to their conversation.
"Hey pinkie, come here."
"Stop it with the shitty nickname." He said and came closer to them. Lucy raised an eyebrow at him and at that moment she really wanted to release all of her anger at him at once. She stopped from launching at him when Laxus placed a hand on hers.
Laxus was more important than this stupid prick anyway.
"Listen, I want you to go back and look for this guy." She said handing him her phone with a photo of Zeref. Why is she keeping a photo of him in her phone? Because he is hot. And for situations like this one.
"When you find him, call at this number and tell me exactly where he is. Got it?" Lucy placed the phone in his hand, showing him a number.
"Why do I have to go?" Natsu was a lazy person. For him to go around the school looking for someone he didn't give a fuck about was really annoying.
"Are you stupid? Do you see anyone else here? If I or Laxus go there and the bastard sees us, we're both dead. So you go there now, before I get really angry and I snap your neck, new student."
"I'm not scared of you princess." He said and took a step closer to her. She didn't back down and also took a step closer.
"Listen to me pretty boy. I'm not some random chick that you can get to bow to your feet. Mess with me once and I'll mess with you hundreds of times. Are we done with this, new student?" She could feel him tense under her touch. She smirked and pushed him back.
"My name is Natsu, not 'new student', or 'pinky', or any other stupid nickname for that matter. And you owe me one."
"I owe you a shit. Don't push it or you'll regret it. Just go there."
"Bye princess." He smiled one more time before he left.
"Fuck you!" She yelled before the door closed behind him.
"He's got some guts." Laxus said shaking his head knowing what wrath awaits him if he messes with Lucy the beast.
After a while Laxus's phone started to ring.
Laxus gave his phone to Lucy and she answered "Yeah?"
"Hey, I found him. He is in the principal's office."Natsu said from the other line. His deep voice on the phone took her by surprise, but that surprise lasted way too little for her to think over it.
"Okay, I'll take Laxus and we'll leave the school. Keep the phone at you and when he comes out you call me, okay? If I'll tell you that we're not out of the school yet, try to keep him busy. Say that you are new and ask for some directions or something. You'll give me my phone back tomorrow."
"Okay. Anything for you, princess." She could imagine him smirking right now.
"And expect to get a punch tomorrow as my 'thank you'." She said and ended the call.
Alright guys, this is the first chapter edited. I hope that you will like it! Please tell me what you think.
