Disclaimer: I still don't own Fairy Tail. *cries in a dark corner*
"Run!"
"Don't look back, okay?"
"Just keep running!"
"LUCY!"
A tear slid down her cheek as she recalled the events that took place that day. The way they had told her to run. The way they had promised to protect her.
The way she ran away without looking back.
That was probably what she regretted the most. She regretted not being brave. She regretted not being able to do anything.
But above all, she regretted running away.
In the darkness of her room, Lucy curled closer to her pillow, not having the will to get up anymore. Her room was incredibly dark, despite it being a warm, sunny day outside.
Why did she run away? What would've happened if she didn't?
But what could she have done? She would've been a burden, anyways. Was it really better that she ran away?
Someone was knocking on her door. Lucy closed her eyes, the tears coming faster. She didn't want to face anyone just yet. She wasn't ready.
She wasn't ready to accept what she had done wrong.
"Lucy, open up!"
Mira.
"Lu-chan, please!"
Levy.
"Love riva-Lucy-san!"
Even Juvia.
"Open up...,"
I'm sorry.
She heard a click, and the door was open. The girls piled into the room, each with their own gift to her, tears threatening to fall from their eyes.
As if she was already dead.
"Lucy," Mira ran over to Lucy's bed, placing a hand on her head. "You have to eat."
Lucy ignored them. She pretended to sleep but the tears gave it away. They continued to fall on her face like a waterfall. A never-ending waterfall of sorrow.
"I-it is not Lucy-san's fault." Juvia sat on Lucy's bed. "None of it is."
Lies.
Everything was her fault. Everything was her doing. If she hadn't run away on that day... If she had stayed and fought... Would anything change?
"Lucy, we'll protect you." Natsu said confidently as he faced the giant demon. This was their mission: to defeat this demon and save a whole town.
It would be fairly easy, they had thought. They had thought that they would just get it over with and everything would be alright.
They were wrong.
"Just like you protect us." Grayadded. Erza nodded in agreement. They all smiled at each other, thinking that they would be able to see each other's smile for another day.
They thought wrong.
Lucy's heart sank as she tought about it over and over and over again. It was stuck in her head. She would remember it forever.
How the demon wan't actually an easy opponent. How, with one blast, they were all on their knees. How they urged her to go. How they all fought until the end.
How she ran away without looking back.
