People always thought Hiashi hated Hinata more then anything in the world.

That is not true. Hiashi did not hate Hinata most, no, there was someone much worse then her, whom he hated more then his so called daughter.

It was true, though, that he hated Hinata. He did not even try to hide it any more.

It wasn't pure hate, no, not quite. He could stand being around her, he could be in the same room, breathe the same air, it hurt him, but he could do it.

He hates her, but not for the reasons everyone thinks.

It is true; she is the weakest child out of herself, Hanabi and Neji. She is unfit to lead the clan, with no leadership qualities about her – she is quiet and humble, not at all like a leader should be, if ever she should lead, the clan would be in ruins.

But no, despite those flaws, Hiashi is sure he could have loved his daughter.

No, it was because she looked like her, that he could not be around her.

She had the same face, the same porcelain doll skin as she'd had. Hinata had the same pale, lavender eyes, soft purple, not off white, like so many Hyuuga, Hinata had the same eyes she used to have. Her hair is the same shade of dark blue – exactly the same shade as hers was. Her voice, even her voice, is just as light, just as soft and kind as hers. She even has the same laugh, that soft, tinkling laugh that used to make Hiashi cry with his own laughter, it was so contagious.

Now, when he hears it, drifting through the Hyuuga compound walls, he just cries.

Because Hinata is exactly like her, exactly like her, in every single way…his wife.

He hates it, he hates it how she grows older, she changes every day, every day she looks more and more like her. It burns him, to see Hinata, alive and well and happy, when she is not, when she is dead.

So he pushed her away. He pushed her away, because she hurt him, hurts him. He pushed her away because he doesn't want to lose another.

He pushed her away, and soon her laughter stopped, and it no longer haunted him. For a moment, Hiashi almost thought he could start to love her again.

Then that happened. He had gone to speak to her, and she had remained silent the whole time. She did not speak, or look at him, or smile at him, like she used to do, when he talked to her.

Like either of them used to. It was then he realised, he had created a rift between him and his daughter. He also realised that this rift would never be able to be mended.

Yes, Hiashi hated Hinata, he hated her more then he could say. But he hated himself more, more then anything he could ever imagine.

Hiashi hated Hinata because she reminded him of the one he lost.

Hiashi hated himself because now, he had lost two of them.
