AN: As far as I can tell, this series came to a screeching halt after the fifth book Spellbound, leaving a plethora of unfinished plot threads. Given how it remains forgotten, even on this website (I am the ONLY person to write Fanfiction for this series at all at time of writing.) I thought I'd write this little drabble.

The darkness was all encompassing. In every direction, from every corner, it sat, surrounding the grounds of Turlingham Academy like a blanket. Near the edge of the darkness, Franklin Coulter wove rhymes into ever more creative spells as he desperately attempted to break his way through to the next stage in the series. On the other side of the field, Katy's parents experimented with potions and spells alike as they tried to open up the next segment in different ways. It was almost ironic really. Witch and witch hunter alike forced to work together in a desperate struggle to move on, beyond their mere shell of an existence.

Sophie slumped down beside her friend Katie with a tired sigh and Katy put her arm around her friend in a comforting hug. Sophie began to cry, pulling Katy into a tight embrace.

"I don't know what to do," she sobbed into Katy's shoulder. "No matter what my dad does, or me or even all of us working together, we can't move on."

Katy hugged her friend even harder and tried to avoid despair. It hadn't been that long ago since her brother and her had kidnapped and held hostage to the evil intentions of the witch hunter organisation. But even then, she had hope that Sophie would save them. But this? This situation was far worse. For three years, the cast of The Witch of Turlingham Academy had waited patiently for the release of the next book in the series. There were unanswered questions, stories that had yet to be resolved and yet…there was only silence.

"It's only…" Katy flailed about as she tried to find something comforting to say. In the three years since their last book, there had been no sign of the next. No doubt the author knew what was supposed to happen next, but for the rest of their readers, their story remained a mystery.

"We're not going to get another book. We're just condemned to this limbo forever. Never moving, never changing and never reaching our conclusion," Sophie continued, her sobs dying away to be replaced with a resigned sadness. Our readers have moved on, our fans no longer chase us and our author has either been unable to finish the next book or simply unable to get the next one published."

"There's always fanfiction," Katy said after what seemed like an eternity of silence. Sophie laughed bitterly and Katy winced. It was so unlike her friend, so upbeat and charming to sound so defeated.

"We have ONE person who writes Fanfiction for us. ONE!" she said as she shook her head. "ONE. And he's got enough stories on his plate without adding our own. Besides," she paused for a moment to look her friend in the eye. "Yellow 14 is a very slow updater on his multichapter stories."

"At least…we have each other," Katy said as she pulled Sophie's chin up to look her in the eye and Sophie hugged her.

"At least that's true," she said and in the darkness, the two friends held on tight as though nothing else mattered.

AN: Depressing, I know. It started off with me thinking about forgotten fandoms who nobody writes for and this was originally going to be a Dragon Rage or Dark Cloud story, but then I stumbled across a copy of the first book in this series in the library and this happened.
