This is 100% a crack!fic. I really have no clue where it came from...it just came to me when my friend Ace was teaching me about Harvest Moon. And speaking of that, I have never actually played Harvest Moon. All my knowledge of the game comes from my friends who are fairly obsessed with it...via their fanfictions, arguments, explanations, and gym class. And let me tell you, when you're friends are discussing Harvest Moon and chickens in gym class while you're trying to bench press...and you start laughing, things go very wrong, very quickly. Especially when your spotter is only half paying attention...but anyway, I hope you enjoy!
Disclaimer: I do not own Harvest Moon or "The Chicken Dance"
The Chicken Dance: Rick Style!
Rick crept through the house quietly, so as not to wake his mother and sister. It was late, and while he should have been sleeping as well, he had one more daily ritual to perform. He shut the door behind him carefully, and made his way to the pen where the chickens slept. Or at least, where they should have been sleeping. But they too were anticipating the nightly ritual, and they clucked happily when Rick finally appeared.
"Shhh!" he whispered to them, "Not so loud. We don't want to wake anyone."
The chickens quieted immediately. Rick moved to the center of the coop, and the chickens formed a ring around him. He smiled and began humming, and after a few bars, he began to dance.
I don't want to be a chicken, I don't want to be a duck, so I shake my butt! Rick thought the lyrics along with his humming. He clapped softly (like a golf clap) and the chickens clucked in time with him (quietly of course). They flapped their wings in a weird semblance of dancing as Rick flitted through the now-familiar dance steps.
Rick had come across the song and dance quite by accident when visiting the nearby city (although he could no longer remember why he had gone to the city in the first place). When he returned to the Poultry Farm, he decided, on a whim, to see if the chickens enjoyed the so-called "Chicken Dance". To his surprise, they danced with him (much like they were doing now), and the very next day, the chickens had lain more eggs than usual! So Rick danced with them again the next night, and the next night, and every night after that. The Poultry Farm's productivity had nearly tripled since Rick began doing the Chicken Dance with the chickens.
As Rick finished dancing, the chickens hopped into their nests and promptly fell asleep. Feeling very tired himself, Rick made his way back to the farmhouse and climbed up the stairs and into bed. A voice called out to him in the darkness.
"Rick, dear, is that you?" Lillia whispered.
"Yes mother, it's me. I was just getting a drink of water, you can go back to sleep."
"All right then. Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
Rick heard his mother turn over, and soon her breathing slowed and evened out. As he made himself comfortable, he figured he would not tell his mother or Popuri about the Chicken Dance. Not yet anyway.
Please review! It would make me soooo happy!
