Blood On The Water

By BluestEra

Dedicated to my lovely younger sister, Stormbrewer. Exactly one hundred words of depressing rhyme! Sorry, the line spacing isn't what I had hoped, but I'm proud of the poem itself. Happy Birthday, Storm!

Blood on the water

Blood in the trees

The distant sound

Of dying pleas

Still, the children lay dying.

The ones who fought

The ones who died

Only know

That the Capitol lied

Still, the children lay dying.

Peace was promised

Treachery masked

And unveiling the truth

Was an impossible task

Still, the children lay dying.

As the years fell away

The light became gray

The skies fade away

And the night became day

Still, the children lay dying.

The sickening sport

With nothing to gain

The mothers watching

As daughters and sons were slain

Still, the children lay dying.
