A/N: Aww. Homesickness sucks. I hate it when it happens.

Long time no see, btw .

DISCLAIMER! We all know by now.

Homesickness

Hermione moved her covers to the lower part of her bed and walked towards the large windowsill. She sighed. It had already been the first week of her first year, and she was already missing her parents. She sat down on the sill and opened the window just a crack. Her bushy brown hair moved with every slight movement of the wind.

Reaching a hand up to brush the hair from her eyes, she thought about the past week.

She had met Harry Potter…that was exciting…That Weasley boy had been rude to her all week! Well, she would have to do something about that. She remembered Professor Snape, and how his billowing robes and unnatural features made him quite frightening. But, being the brave girl she was, Hermione would never admit to this out loud.

She stretched and yawned. Her mother usually helped her drift off to sleep with a good read, she remembered. She sighed once more and sat down on her bed. Her dad and always come in and interrupted with a "Have you brushed your teeth, Hermione?" Hermione smiled. Sometimes having two dentists for parents was annoying.

She suddenly realized that she could read to help fall asleep. As she mentally slapped herself ('how come I didn't think of this sooner?'), she reached around her bed, and, trying to be as quiet as possible, she brought out a copy of Hogwarts: A History.

Hermione woke up the next morning with the book sprawled out on her bed, and to the sound of Parvati and Lavender laughing.

"You are such a nerd, Granger," Lavender said, walking out. Hermione sneered after them. As soon as they left though, she let out a strangled sob. Yes, she wanted to go home badly. But she knew it was her place here in Hogwarts, and that she would make friends soon.

A/N: I love Hermy! Well…not really. But she does tickle my fancy lol. I like to write about her when she's not nagging the boys lol.

The next fic is going to be…Hope! Yessir.
