Connecticut, September 2000
Emily Gilmore sighed. Lorelei was back, and this time she wouldn't be able to escape. And it would be good to see Rory again. She missed that girl. She went back into her bedroom to change for dinner. Lorelei reminded her of someone… she glanced at her dresser and stopped dead in her tracks. Lorelei reminded her of Fanny. After all, both left and sixteen and got knocked up by their boyfriends.
The maid knocked on the door. "You have a visitor downstairs. He says he's your nephew."
Emily gracefully walked down the steps.
"Hubbell, what a pleasant surprise!" She said.
"I was at a conference in the area and decided to stop by. Is that a problem?"
"No. Lorelei just left. She lives a half hour away. Stars Hollow, you know."
" So, why was she here?" He asked.
"Rory was accepted to Chilton, and you know how Lorelei is with money…"
"A little too much information. Oh, and I brought these for you. They're the latest heels off the runway."
"And I'm guessing all your mother is getting is a mug."
"You got it!" He laughed and stayed until after dinner drinks.
"Stay over; you'll get to see them when they come tomorrow for dinner." Emily suggested.
"Is the guest room still open?"
"Yes."
"Thank you."
