River sees. She sees how Jayne is a good father. She sees their children. One day all Serenity will see it too. But, for now, she is the only who sees it. She sees it in the way he cleans his guns. The same tender attention one day he'll have with their offspring. She sees he will be the proudest father in the 'verse in the way he boasts about his guns; she sees how jealous and overprotective he will be about their children in the way he reacts violently every time someone tries to touch his guns. She sees him arguing with her about their children's education in the way he is always arguing with mal about grenades. She sees it when he tells the tales of each one of his guns - the same tales that one day will be the bedtime stories of their offspring. River sees and waits. One day he will get to the moment she sees now. Jayne moves slowly through time, but she is patient. He will be worth the wait. One day, they will see together the life she sees alone now.
