Pane
"Mama, mama, pane." Houston excitedly told Jackie in the middle of the night one night as he shook her awake.
"There's a plane?" Jackie asked him groggily as she woke up.
"Yeah." Houston said as he crawled up onto the bed.
"Well let's look at it." Jackie told him as they peeked out of the window which was easy considering the bed was up against the window.
"Big pane." He exclaimed happily as he and Jackie saw the lights of it.
"Yeah it is a big plane isn't it?" Jackie asked, managing a smile even though it was 2:30 in the morning.
Houston loved planes and apparently to him it didn't matter what time it was as long as he got to see a plane.
"Dada pane." Houston said as he looked over to Nick's side of the bed but to the little boy's dismay Nick was not there.
"Dada on pane?" Houston asked Jackie.
Jackie laughed "No sweetie daddy's not on the plane, he's working."
If Nick is on the plane our marriage is in serious trouble Jackie thought amusedly to herself.
They watched the plane until it was out of sight.
"Bye bye pane." Houston said as he waved out the window.
Jackie stifled a laugh.
"Alright little buddy, let's get you back to bed." She said as she got off of the bed.
The little boy followed her lead and as they walked back into his bedroom he grabbed her hand.
When they had reached his room he crawled back into his bed. She pulled the covers over his legs.
"Goodnight Houston, mommy loves you." She told him.
"Night night mama, me love you." He told her.
"Thank you sweetheart." She said.
She leaned down and kissed his head and then started to walk out of his room.
"Come here mama." He told her.
"What is it sweetie?" She asked as she walked back over to his bedside.
"Night night baby." He said as he gave her tummy a gentle pat.
"Aww that's so nice Houston, you are such a great big brother." She praised.
"Baby brother?" He asked her.
"I don't know, it could be a baby sister." She said with a chuckle.
He gave her a confused look, he seemed to be thinking how can you not know?
"Do you want a baby brother or a baby sister?" Jackie asked.
"Both dem." He replied without missing a beat.
Jackie laughed "Sorry little buddy, you are getting one or the other, not both I'm afraid."
"Only one dem?" He asked her sounding disappointed.
"Yes only one."
"Why?" He asked her innocently.
"Because there is only room for one baby in mommy's tummy." She told him, trying to give him an answer he would understand.
He seemed satisfied with that answer, he smiled softly at her and he didn't ask her anymore questions.
"Goodnight kiddo." She told him as she once again leaned over and kissed his head.
"Night mama." He said with a slight smile.
Jackie then left his room and immediately went back into her own room and crawled back into her bed.
Jackie smiled to herself, she loved getting one on one time with her children, even at 2:30 in the morning.
The End!
