Notes: Ahh wow I've never actually done a Gossip girl fic before and I'm really nervous that this just completely sucks. It's not a really in-depth look at the characters, more so how Blair sees them and herself, I guess. Anyway review and feel free to tell me if this completely and totally sucks.
Disclaimer: I own nothing except the mistakes. Darn.
She's self-destructing, really. If you want the complete truth that is exactly what Blair Waldorf is doing.
Actually right now she's sprawled out on the bottom of her tub, vanilla scented soap and water gliding slowly around her. Her pale skin has turned a light pinkish color at the intensity of the water temperature and the scotch in her right hand is making her kind of dizzy. She's been sitting there 'contemplating life', as her therapist would put it, for the last hour. It's actually getting a little too Lifetime movie for her own tastes but once she starts she can't stop. Stupid lack of control.
She's beginning to think that all of them, every single one of them tends to self-destruct using their own distinct method.
Nate with his almost obsessive need to please his father, when really, its slowly killing him, burning him alive from the inside. He's too young, too juvenile to be his father. Because that's what the Captain really wants, he wants a little miniature version of himself. Although he's not looking so great himself right now. With the drugs, and the rehab, and the complete neglect of his family, yeah, Nate's self-destructing. Damn and we all thought he was the least of all to do something stupid like that.
Serena with her well placed bad-girl-turned-good façade. She's not fooling anyone besides naive little Brooklyn boy. Maybe it's because they all knew her before, they all really knew pre-boarding school Serena. They cleaned up her vomit, and pulled her out of bars, and pretty much kept her standing, a girl like that doesn't do a complete 180. Because S was born a party girl, it's her way of dealing and Blair by know means judges her for that, because in this world, you either deal or die, figuratively of course although some have been known to actually die from the pressure of holding that façade. But what do they always say – the higher up on that pedestal you pretend to stand the harder you fall – and Blair has a feeling that halo placed upon Serena's perfect, golden head will break as soon as she hits the floor.
Chuck's a little harder to figure out, because if he's not in bed with some random whore, he's smoking a joint, getting drunk, or all of it at the same time, depends on what day you catch him. Of course Blair knows that is his self-destruct button, he hides behind the man-whorish image, maybe because that's all he knows, maybe because it's all that he's known for. But he's Chuck Bass and showing weakness is unacceptable, so he hides, but he's probably the closest one of the group to actually be able to stop.
And then there's herself. Her dainty finger is always in close proximity from that damn self-destruct button of hers. It's her strive for perfect that will eventually pull her down. Actually it might be her inability to pass over her control to someone else, because she's Blair Waldorf and showing weakness is unacceptable. So she dresses in silk and curls her hair, and gains control by using that little porcelain goddess of hers. The funny thing is, the way she deals shows exactly how little self-control she actually has.
Eh not as long as I wanted it to be but it'll do. Anyway if you guys actually like this I may delve a little deeper into these characters, if not it was fun while it lasted. Review.
