FABULOUS
"Please, help yourself," D murmured, gesturing towards the food spread out on the table.
"Don't mind if I do," Tucking his napkin firmly under his chin, a habit D frowned on but allowed because at least he was using a napkin, Leon pulled the first tray over and began ladling food onto his plate.
Normally, Leon was not what one could consider a food connoisseur – he ate to live and didn't care one fig about the quality as long as there was plenty of quantity. After filling his plate, he picked up his utensils and with a nod towards D and the effort he had made preparing this dinner, he fell to eating.
"Fabulous, D," Leon managed around a mouthful of food. "This stuff is freakin' fabulous. It's got to be the best beef I've ever had. What's your secret?"
"My secret, Detective?" D asked sweetly, glancing at Leon over the rim of his glass. "Whatever do you mean?"
"You know, how do you cook it? What's your secret recipe?" Stopping in mid-chew, Leon recalled one of the other times he had had eaten dinner with D. Or more precisely what he had eaten for dinner with D. His eyes narrowed at the thought.
"What's in it?" He demanded suspiciously.
The only response he got was a mischievous smile and a knowing look.
Shrugging his shoulders in an almost nonchalant manner, Leon shoveled more food into his mouth. "Never mind," he mumbled. "I think I'd be better off not knowing."
