Always friends
Rachel sighed as she watched Percy and Annabeth dance around the campfire. Sure being the Oracle made her feel important, but it didn't mean that much anymore. She didn't have what she wanted Percy. Sure she knew that Annabeth liked him she even tried hinting to him that Annabeth liked him, but Percy was Percy a seaweed brain. Rachel tried hiding it, but sometimes it still hurt that she would never win and he would always choose Annabeth. Someday they would get married and have children and Rachel would be still there unable to marry or fall in love. Rachel looked around at everyone dancing and tried to smile. It was working until she saw him kiss her and it made her think of their kiss and how he didn't move and just froze like a statue.
Rachel choked back a sob and quickly got up and walked quickly to her cave tears threating to fall. Once inside she let the tears slide down her face as she picked up a paint brush and her red and blue paint. For a moment Rachel just stood unsure of what to paint anymore. Throwing the paint and paint brush down she sat on her futon curled in a ball and cried.
Rachel didn't know why she was crying she hadn't cried when they first got together. So why should she be crying now? "Because you love him." Said a voice in her head. "Rachel?" she heard a voice say. Rachel turned around and saw Percy standing in the entrance of her cave somehow managing to look concerned yet awkward. "Yes." She said willing her voice to return to normal. "Umm May I come in? '' He asked slightly admiring the TV and stereo system in the cave. "Sure" she said her voice returning to normal.
"So Percy what's up? She said gesturing for him to sit down next to her. " I- um didn't want things to be weird between us since you kissed me. I- know that you're the oracle and all but-." Rachel looked at him " Percy" she said matching his gaze " You are- were the first guy I ever liked and I do still care about you." Percy looked at her looking even more uncomfortable. "But," she continued " our friendship is more important than that you helped me understand who I am and always will be." She said looking him straight in the eyes. Percy visibly relaxed and let out a sigh of relief. " Rachel I promise we will Always be friends no matter what." Rachel smiled " Best Friends" she said reaching out a hand "Best friends." Percy agreed but instead of shaking her hand he pulled her into a huge bear hug.
"Hey Rachel this doesn't mean I have to wear a friendship bracelet right?'' he asked innocently. Rachel rolled her eyes " Of course not.'' She said laughing.
"Promise" Percy asked sounding like a child. " Promise" Rachel assured him. "Well in that case we better get back and PARTY!" He yelled running out the cave. " Hey wait up!" Rachel yelled running after him. "Never." He laughed. Rachel stopped for a moment and smiled a real smile. " I can't have as my boyfriend, but at least I'll always have him as my best friend. Rachel then ran toward the campfire. When she saw Annabeth she gave her a small smile which Annabeth slowly returned. Smiling even more Rachel started to rock out as "Call Me Maybe Came On" " So here's my number so call me maybe." She sang as she danced. " I win!" Percy shouted "Rematch" Rachel Yelled. Percy narrowed his eyes " Your on Dare." Rachel narrowed her eyes " Bring it Jackson." Annabeth then walked over and said " First one to the beach wins." she said winking at Rachel reaching her foot discreetly out to trip Percy. "1,2, 3 go" and Rachel took off feeling truly happy.
