Hiei let one last flick of his blade sever the demon's head from its shoulders. As the blood flew in an arc, he felt it land on him in a messy rainfall as the body tipped over lifeless.
Kurama watched the demon fall, then let his focus settle on the small fire yokai. He could feel his pulse quicken, and his eyes shrank to pinpricks at the site of the red blood glistening of the pale skin that was visible along his exposed arms and face.
Damn, Kurama thought, his breathing starting to get erratic, and he noted that he felt Botan approaching on her oar. He looks hot covered in blood…
Botan landed in the small clearing that the fight had taken place, not minding the bodies lying everywhere. As long as they weren't the tantei it didn't matter to her. She watched as Hiei quickly cleaned his sword of the gore that covered it, then let a small bit of flame creep over the blade, extinguishing itself as it climbed toward the tip and then went out, the blade clean and sterilized. He sheathed it, ignoring the blood covering him, weighing down his usual gravity-defying locks of black with white.
It was then she noticed Kurama, and couldn't hide a grin that crossed her face. As a ferry girl, she would know a lot of demons and their, er, particular traits. She could see the lust in the fox-gone-human's eyes, the pupils mere dots in the emerald iris's steady and unwavering gaze. Hiei either had to have noticed this and was ignoring it, or really hadn't and… oh Kami, this was way too hilarious.
Yuusuke had noticed the stiff posture that Kurama had taken, and was looking at him confused.
"Yo, Kurama? You okay man?"
Kurama didn't seem to here him, or was ignoring him. Probably a little of both, Botan mused.
"Leave him, you won't knock this out of him that easily. This is a demon thing."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, what you do find attractive in a person? Just by looking at them?"
"Wait… what?"
"Just answer the question."
"A lot of things!" Yuusuke answered, blushing.
"Well, for demons it's a lot of things as well, but more specific in each species. Youko's, on one hand, like blood."
Yuusuke stared blankly at her for a moment, then it clicked. He looked over to where Kurama was standing at, to see him no longer there. He had moved closer to Hiei, who had finally (decided to?) noticed that Kurama had been staring at him, and was giving him a stern look.
"So right now, Kurama has the hots for Hiei, because Hiei's covered in blood?"
"Yeah, that's about it. If it was mostly Hiei's blood, it wouldn't be so attractive. He finds that the more enemy blood covering someone, the more attractive they are. It's a strength thing."
"That's… makes sense. But it's really creepy to see one of my friends and teammates ogling the other one…"
"You'll get used to it. If he comes onto you though, just-"
"No," echoed across to them, and Hiei swiftly smacked Kurama, knocking him out of his daze.
"Do that!"
Kurama shook his head, blushed, and looked at the floor, pointedly avoiding looking at Hiei who still had blood covering him.
"I apologize."
"Hn. Not now. You're not ready."
Kurama's eyes narrowed, still not looking at Hiei, and he bit out, "Who are you to tell me if I'm ready or not."
"Your human body is still a child."
"And comparing lifespans, you are too."
Botan and Yuusuke watched them argue, and Botan blushed faintly.
"Though you may not want to do that, unless you really want it."
