A New Perspective
By Rage of Chaotic Tempest Tears
All of the Card Captor Sakura gang were gathered in a room. After the disappointing trip to the Nelvana headquarters located who-knows-where, were talking about the dubbed version.
"Now, what kind of name is Li? I mean, it has less letters then Eli, which is a stupid name by itself! And it's even my last name! And my name is in his name!" Syaoran exclaimed.
"My sentiments exactly," Eriol replied dryly.
"Chelsea? Zachary? And we're cousins? What the heck?" Chiharu muttered darkly.
"Okay, so we don't like our names! We don't have to get in a huff!" Sakura told them.
"Easy for you to say, only your last name changed!" Naoko said. Murmurs of agreement rippled through the characters and Sakura fell silent.
"Yeah, and I call Sakura squirt, not kaijuu," Touya said, crest-fallen. A sudden chill went through the crowd as a dark figure cloaked in a cape and mask entered.
"I think you should be thanking Nelvana, and I'm also talking to all of the people behind the computer screen reading this," She mysteriously said.
"Who the heck are you? And are you insane, THANKING them? Are we talking about the same Nelvana?" All of the audience and characters shouted in unison.
"I am Rage of Chaotic Tempest Tears. It is very disputable and yes, you should. Think about it. So many people bash Nelvana without thinking thoroughly about it."
"Okay then, what's your argument?" Tomoyo asked, amused.
"Audience: Would you even freakin' know about Card Captor Sakura if it weren't for Nelvana? For those of us who live in Canada and the U.S.A., would you have found out about it if it weren't for Card Captors?" ROCTT (Rage of Chaotic Tempest Tears) questioned.
"And would you write the many good CCS fics out there if it weren't for Nelvana? I seriously doubt it. Many authors have been inspired by Nelvana, even if they know it or not. So what if they screwed it up a little? Okay, maybe not just a little, but you still know about CCS thanks to it, right?"
"Good point, but what does that have to do with us?" Fujitaka asked, not happy that in the dubbed version, his former wife's name was "Natasha".
"Well, if it weren't for those inspired authors, how many S&S, E&T, and as many other couples that you can think of out there would there be? And how many people would read them?"
Before the characters had time to answer, one of the people in front of the computer screens raised their hand.
"Well, what about changing the couples, names, and incantations?" They asked. Unbeknownst to the computer screen people, ROCTT had a plan/argument up her sleeve.
"Couples: Well, think about it. This is a kid's show on the other side of the world. Some parents may not want their kids to watch things like that and that would cost Nelvana watchers. The name, I haven't an inkling. And the incantations, I would suppose it was so it could rhyme."
When, all of the sudden, angry people that I have not convinced start to beat this story up and flees in terror.
THE END!
Flame me! I don't care! I need something to warm up my frozen fingers. Well, drop a review if you want to. Ciao! ~Rage of Chaotic Tempest Tears.
