Non human-eating wraiths?
* A new kind of wraiths contact Atlantis !

One day Todd contacted the Atlantis crew;
A few "renegade" Wraiths wanted to cooperate with the research of the Atlantis Chief Medical Officer since these Wraiths had been surviving without eating humans for a while.

The Lanteans didn´t trust the wraiths not even Todd, especially Todd, since he had played with them, betrayed them, and let information about the midway station get into the wrong hands - hands that liked to feed on humans.
The first contact with the renegades was made through a MALP, with the Stargate safely shielded. The Lanteans discovered that these wraiths weren´t the usual green colored kind.
The "elder" of them had been a science leader in his former hive ship and he had an orange-golden tint to his skin.

He explained that after a fight between hives their ship had been forced onto a human-free planet that contained the insects that the humans called "iratus". He, as the leader, had not been willing to feed from the few survivors of his ship.
But he was hungry and finally in desperation he fed from some of the iratus bugs and his hunger calmed.
Eventually he convinced his queen to feed this way and she reluctantly agreed.
That had taken place a long time ago. They found that the eggs of the bug were the most nourishing and if they occasionally fed from the animals that still existed on the planet their hunger was satisfied for a good length of time.

Dr. Beckett was thrilled. If this was true, then his genetic therapy, which had already caused so many problems, would not be needed.
They could create non-human eating wraiths without it.

It wasn't easy to convince the rest of the Atlantis leadership, but eventually, with an entire battalion of military personnel and Ronon as the Welcoming Committee the renegade Wraith leader was invited to Atlantis.

When they finally came face to face with the wraith, whose amber-colored skin seemed almost golden, the Atlantis personnel were a little disconcerted. Then Col. Sheppard stood in front of the wraith and welcomed him.
The wraith didn´t know if he should feel insulted when all the humans started laughing at the Colonel´s words.
The other wraith commander, the one those humans called Todd, had warned him that the human soldier liked to call them by odds names, but the words, "Well, I´ll call you Carlisle. Let's talk about your coven of vegetarian vampires," didn´t sound that funny to him.
