It had happened again. The prank war between the members of Team Gibbs. Most of the pranks were between Tony and Ziva but Mcgee had recently been firing a few of his own tricks at his team members. Especially Tony.
They were currently wrapping up a case. And the bullpen was exceptionally quiet. And Gibbs wasn't even in the room. All was quiet. Each agent looking warily at one another, waiting to see if the other was going to make a move. Tony had been the victim of the latest prank so Mcgee and Ziva were being extra careful in everything they did, looking for evidence of tampering with their stuff.
"Well this case was fairly easy," Mcgee commented, breaking the silence.
"Yes, it was. Even if someone could not seem to act their age," Ziva said, aiming her last comment at Tony.
"Hey, I'm not the only one who was dishing out pranks here, Miss. David," Tony said, stretching out her last name like always.
"You started this whole thing!" Ziva retorted.
Tony was about to reply when Mcgee butted in.
"Come on guys, haven't you two argued enough? Let's just call this a day and you two agree to put this whole prank war behind us. Because frankly I'm tired of having to watch my back every time I turn around,"He said, almost desperately.
Tony and Ziva had a brief stare down before Ziva gave a soft nod, "I can call a truce if he can."
"Tony seemed to consider this before nodding also, "Okay, fine. I've got a date later and I need to be focused, not wondering if you've put a laxative in my coffee."
Ziva only smiled at him as she got up to leave.
Tony and Mcgee followed suit and they had almost made it to the bullpen when Gibbs' tone came thundering through to them.
"Ziva, where's your report? If you think you're leaving without doing it you are sadly mistaken," Gibbs called through to her.
"It's in my top left drawer. Sorry Gibbs," Ziva called back to him.
Gibbs nodded and went to open her drawer when Tony hurriedly started running toward Gibbs.
"No! Gibbs, wait!" He cried.
But it was too late. The drawer was opened and Gibbs' face was now covered in a fine white coat of whipped cream.
Tony stopped in his tracks, staring horrified at his Boss as the man attempted to wipe the whipped cream out of his eyes. The whole floor was silent as they watched the scene play out. Balboa, who was also walking to the elevator was staring in mild shock next to Mcgee, but he was now trying to hold in his laughter. He knew how Gibbs and Tony reacted around one another. Almost as if they were father and son. And if you looked at the scene from that perspective it was downright hilarious.
"DiNozzo,"Gibbs hissed.
Tony bowed his head and walked over to his boss.
"Gibbs, I am so sorry that was completely meant for Ziva," Tony apoligized.
Gibbs, who had a handful of whipped cream in his palm, raised it up and wiped it on Tony's face before wagging a finger in his now whipped cream covered face, "Don't apoligize. It's a sign of weakness."
Then with a quick, extra hard headslap he strolled out of the bullpen leaving a dismayed Tony in his wake.
"That's it?" Tony asked to no one in particular, as he attempted to wipe the cream off of his face.
"Be happy he didn't fire you...Or worse," Mcgee said as he climbed onto the elevator.
"And that he was in a good mood. Our case involved a happy ending for an eight year old girl. Those kinds of cases tend to put Gibbs in a happy mood," Ziva observed as she too joined Mcgee on the elevator.
Tony smiled gently as he turned around and headed to the elevator. He really did love his job and the people in it.
A/N- lol a weird little one-shot that popped into my head at school today. Really short but I thought I'd post it anyways.
Hoped you liked it! Review please!
