Johnny: Underdog Stories
Prologue
Johnny and Meryl were sitting in the Nomad a few days after the Guns of the Patriots incident occurred. They weren't talking; they were just enjoying the eggs Sunny finally made right. They were looking out the windows on the port and starboard, looking at the Himalayan Mountains. Just watching: the subtlety of everything around them was surreal. Many things had just gone a lot differently than they should've; Snake was going to live, as was the rest of the world, and the three of them: Snake, Johnny and Meryl, had just infiltrated a ship, from another one, and not only lived, but succeeded.
The two of them were sitting there, looking at the mountaintop view, when Meryl finally said something. "So, how'd you fall for me anyway?" Johnny pondered the question for a moment, before saying "I really don't know. It was probably love at first sight." Johnny continued to think about this probing question. He realized in order to answer it He needed to ponder his past and what may have influenced him during Shadow Moses. He became lost in his daydream. He couldn't think of an answer to the question. Meryl continued to stare at him as he stared blankly into space. "Be serious, John." That surprised him. He was always called Johnny or Akiba. This confused him, and he spoke back in a joking tone. "Seriously, I don't know!" Johnny started a laugh for about three seconds. He began thinking about his life in the boot camp of the Next-Generation Special Forces unit and how it influenced him.
