AN: Hello my fellow FanFictioners. Before we begin I just have one thing to say, I love PJO and HoO. Those books were the ones that got me into reading. The Lightning Thief was the first book I read for fun instead of school and I've been hooked ever since. Now it's hard to believe that once upon a time I used to hate reading, let alone writing. If you haven't read those books yet (first off what are you doing here then) you really should, they are amazing, better than anything I can write.

Now, To Battle!

Prologue

(Artemis)

Artemis, the goddess of the hunt and the moon, knew something was wrong when Apollo, her twin brother and god of prophesies and the sun, asked her to meet him on the Isle of Delphi, one of his sacred places. Even the way he had sent the message was strange. He had tied the message to a trained bird, which flew to her. It was a method that hadn't been used for millennium, and Apollo preferred to use modern methods. Artemis teleported to the island, bow in hand in case it was a trap. It was the middle of the night and Artemis could see the full moon in the skies, Selene must have been driving the chariot that night. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, no one had visited the island in centuries so the temples were in ruins, but everything was quiet, as if the whole island was holding its breath.

"Artemis, you came."

Artemis turned around, arrow notched in her bow. She sighed; standing behind her was her brother.

"Whoa, easy sis, it's me," he raised his hands.

"You're lucky I didn't shoot you," she told him, lowering her bow. Apollo looked as he normally did, a man in his mid-20's, sandy blonde hair, blue eyes, and tan skin, but there was something off about him. Was that… worry etched on his face? Artemis hadn't seen Apollo this worried since the Second Giant War.

"You wouldn't have," he tried for humor, but the worry remained on his face.

"Yes I would," she said bluntly.

"I'm hurt, Artemis," he pouted playfully, "I thought you cared."

"Just tell me why you asked for me here," she said impatiently.

"Yeah," his expression notably dropped, "this is one of the few places that we can't be watched. You know my Oracle, right?"

"The girl, Rachel? Yes, I know of her. What about her?"

"She was going to issue a prophesy…" he trailed off.

"And what of it?" Artemis questioned, "Is that not what your Oracle is supposed to do?"

"I stopped her," Apollo stated. She was shocked. She knew that her brother could do that, but she never thought he would.

"What was the prophesy?" she asked.

"You aren't going to like it," he warned.

"I didn't come all this way to go back with nothing," Artemis told her brother.

"I figured you'd say something like that…" he told her the prophesy.

"You were right, I don't like it," she scowled.

"So," Apollo asked, "you see why I brought you here?"

"Yes," she told him, "the others must not know about this, at least, not until it comes to pass."

"So, what are you going to do?"

"I don't know…"

-16 years later-

(Madilyn)

Madilyn, or "Maddie" as everyone called her, had been having a strange dream before her adoptive mother woke her up after she had slept through her alarm clock. That's right, her adoptive mother. When Maddie was a baby, her adoptive parents, Allen and Nichole Harolle, found her on their doorstep with a note asking for them to take care of her. Since then, they had raised her as their own daughter, even once they started having children of their own. Maddie couldn't have asked for a better family though. From her adoptive father, Allen, who was somehow strict, funny, and caring all at the same time, to his wife, Nichole, who pretended to be mean as a way of playing with her children, to Joey and Lily, Maddie's shy younger sisters, to Rogen, their energetic brother, even if he was annoying, to the newest addition to the family, Ivy, the baby sister. Sure they were a crazy family, but Maddie loved them anyways.

"Come on Maddie," her mother was shaking her awake, "You're going to be late for school."

Maddie shot up like a bullet. She was already on less than good terms with the teachers at school, and she did not want to give them any more reason to punish her. She quickly got ready for school and said goodbye to her parents and Ivy before running out the door with her other siblings to the white van waiting for them in their drive way, inside was Zach. No they were not being kidnapped; Zach was a family friend who had offered to pick them up on his way to school since they lived to far away for the bus to pick them up. He was fairly tall, had blonde hair, and was even growing some facial hair. He had a strange limp though. He said it was because of a disease in his legs, and was unable to participate in sports events.

"You're running late," he teased from the driver's seat.

"Just drive, will ya," Maddie returned, climbing into the passenger's seat.

"So what took you so long?" he asked.

"I slept through my alarm," she admitted.

"Really?" he was surprised, "That's not like you."

"Yeah, I had a strange dream," she told him.

"Can you remember what it was about?" Zach asked.

"No," she said, but the more she thought about it, she thought she remembered the names Artemis and Apollo being mentioned. She recognized them as the twin Greek gods of archery among other things, but… they were just stories… right?

AN: And there's the prologue. Hopefully you all enjoyed that. for those of you reading any of my other stories, I'm kinda going through a phase were I have so many ideas going through my head that it's hard to focus on just one and I've got to write it all down before I forget (that the reason why I've started two new stories the past few weeks). So yeah, hopefully, the next chapter of The Tactician's Journey will be out within the week (fingers crossed nothing else pops up). So until next chapter, go out there, be great, and keep it simple.
