Nick Cutter woke up on the floor. Last thing he remembered was giving Connor the artifact and now he's in the TARDIS.
"Good morning sleepyhead," came the cheery greeting.
"What the hell happened?"
"You regenerated."
"But I was human and Scottish and dying, now I'm English and alive."
