One minute they're running, next minute Sam's gone. Vanished into thin air.
Dean pulls up abruptly, not quite believing his eyes. How can Sam just disappear? He pulls his gun out, just in case, and softly calls his brother's name.
Up ahead, Dean hears a pathetic little moan and he edges forward, senses heightened. In the dusk he can just make out Sam sitting on the ground, grasping his ankle. He looks up at Dean, opening his mouth.
"Watch out for…"
Dean cries out in surprise as he loses his footing and tumbles to the ground.
"…the ditch," Sam finishes.
