"There are two kinds of secrets; the ones we keep from others and the ones we keep from ourselves."

Dominique is perfect, it's only a veneer but the best kind of perfect veneer, the type that takes years and years to get just right and seconds to rip down. She keeps her troubles to herself, keeps her secrets buried deep and despite the fact that under the perfect she is the most broken of all the Weasely girls.

She's been dropped and kicked to the side and forgotten, she's not surprised anymore when she's dropped for her prettier older sister or her sweeter naiver younger cousins. No one thinks that maybe she doesn't like it because she's perfect and perfect people share with their less perfect more flawed family.

She works harder and gets the best grades she can and she cakes on the makeup until it looks so unnaturally natural and she knows that the minute she forgets herself and cries it'll all smear and run and she won't be perfect, she'll be real.

She keeps her hurt and her loneliness and her bubbling awful feelings a secret, she talks enough to hide the fact that she doesn't say anything. She smiles and underneath the lip gloss and fake happiness she's screaming for someone to look her straight in the eyes and ask her how she is. She knows that if that happened she'd laugh and say she's perfect with a barely concealed bitterness.

Perfect is her older sister with her effortles good looks and her effortless grace and her ease with being the center of attention. Perfect is anything and everything but her.

She doesn't talk about her feelings, she keeps them a secret. But she's also good at keeping secrets from herself.

She hears people whispering about the fact that Lorcan is sleeping with Lucy but she manages to ignore it, keep her blinds up and not listen to what has to be just idle gossip because Lorcan is probably one of the people she can even begin to be herself with. She ignores the rumours and gossip as it becomes more and more vicious, he's going to Hogsmeade with Lucy, he's been seen shagging her in a classroom. He's been seen with Lucy doing things that he should be doing with her.

She keeps herself protected by carefully not listening. She keeps it a secret from herself until she finds Lorcan and Lucy tangled up together on his bed and then the whole game is up. She can't keep the secret from herself anymore and just like that she's single again.

It's a surprise to everyone the next day when she seems ok, perfectly fine, thanks for asking. Because she's the secret keeper and she'd rather break inside then have others learn her secret feelings.
