The scent of worn leather and aged paper filled her nose as she bustled about the room. As the rest of the castle was rebuilt this room was hers to recreate the way she wished. She was Hogwarts newest librarian. Raven smiled to herself as she waved her wand and the fallen books shot away to their rightful places. Her heels clicked against the cold stone as she walked the isles looking for anymore displacements, when she was satisfied she returned to her desk at the front. As she neared the front as found a bouquet of white roses waiting for her in a beautiful vase. Her heart warmed at the sight and she smelled their deliciously sweet scent. A pair of arms snaked around her waist from behind and lips kissed the back of her head. "So I take it you like them my love?" Raven turned to smile at the Weasley twin holding her. "Oh Fred, of course I do. You know these are my favorites." He chuckled and kissed her forehead and she giggled like a love stricken schoolgirl. "For a jokester you sure do know how to be a romantic my dear." Their lips met in a light kiss, even though both wanted more, but that would have to wait. Fred was still in a delicate state after the great battle. Tears pricked the back of her eyes as she remembered the moment she almost lost the love of her life.
The Dark Lord's words bounced off the empty halls as Raven made her way through the wreckage of the castle. She had been injured but not as greatly as those who lay at her feet, those who had given their lives to defend those they loved. She made it to the great hall where she could hear voices of sorrow and pain spill from under the door. She pushed the door open slowly and limped her way carefully past the bodies and those helping the injured. She stopped one nurse who had just covered the body of a girl she had once had a class with. Oh how she wished she could remember her name now… "Pardon me ma'am….but can you tell me where the Weasleys are?" She pointed to the very back where she saw Molly sobbing and her heart dropped. Please don't be Fred…oh please don't let it be him….
She ran as fast as her injured leg would allow her to. She ended up running right into George's back. He wrapped his arms around her to steady her as tears filled his eyes. The look in his eyes instantly told her the news she dreaded to learn. "Oh George, please no…" Her voice cracked as tears filled her eyes. He let her go and she collapsed to Fred's side. She began to sob as Molly knelt at her side and put her hands on Raven's shoulders. "Fred please….please open your eyes…." She grabbed his hand and rested it on her cheek; his fingers were so cold against her skin. She lightly kissed the palm of his hand as the tears streamed freely down her face.
As the night wore on she refused to leave his side, even when news of Harry's death had reached her. She stayed at Fred's side, head resting over his heart. "Why didn't my love save you Fred? If Lilly's could save Harry, why couldn't mine save you?" She closed her eyes and wept again. Wept for their love, the life they would have had, the child she had yet to tell him about. As she laid there and wept she began to hear a pounding beneath her ear. Raven dismissed it for the battle outside but the pounding kept getting louder and faster. She looked up at Fred's face to find his eyes full of tears as he smiled at her. They held each other and sobbed for their love and the life they could still have together.
As the memory drifted away she felt his hands rest on her swollen stomach. "Mum's not working too hard in here is she lil one?" The baby kicked softly against her stomach and she smiled as he did. "I love you Raven." "I love you too Fred." He grinned and took her hand. "We should get going love, Mum has a dinner in the oven big enough to feed and army so we can announce the news." She laughed. "Oh how I do love your Mum, Fred. Oh how I do love her." He chuckled and lead her out of the library to another chapter of their life together.
