Her head was heavy on my shoulder, her body warm under my arm. I glanced down at her, her face serene, a slight smile playing on her lips. Slowly I rested my chin on the top of her head, a contented sigh escaping through my lips.
"Aww, how cute!" Charles said playfully from the seat across the aisle.
"Shut up Charles!" I snapped back, but I couldn't keep the grin off my face. I didn't mind Charles' playful teasing today, I was filled to the brim with happiness and for once fireworks weren't the cause. We were on our way to Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry to visit our friends Harry, Hermionie and Ron, and I was with Rylee, the most wonderful girl in the world. I glanced down at her to make sure I hadn't woken her up, and was relieved to see that I hadn't. She was so beautiful when she slept, I could watch her sleep forever. Behind me I heard Joe clear his throat.
"Sorry to interrupt the snuggle-fest, but I think we're almost there."
I heaved a sigh. I didn't want to wake her, and I guess my face reflected that because next thing I knew Charles had thrown a Twizzler at her. She jumped and sat bolt upright, looking around like a cute, startled puppy.
"CHARLES!" I yelled, suddenly angry. "WHAT THE HELL MAN?" Charles started laughing and I jumped out of my seat, ready to sock him in the face. I felt Rylee grab my arm from behind me.
"Cary it's fine, I'm alright, relax." I turned to look at her. She looked disoriented, upset, and pissed off all in one. I didn't want to upset her any more then she already was. I stared at Charles for a long minute before I slowly sank back into my chair.
"Are you sure you're alright?" I whispered to Rylee, gently tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear. She nodded, gazing into my eyes, a slight grin on her lips. Her gaze made a tingle run down my spine and all my anger dissolved. I felt myself smiling again, feeling myself fill with happiness once again. Charles was still laughing behind me but I barely noticed. Right then my world consisted of Rylee and Rylee only. It felt like heaven. I cradled Rylee's face in my hands, rubbing her cheeks lightly with my thumbs. She was so beautiful, I couldn't get over it. I slowly began to pull her face closer to mine, completely aware of her arms now wrapped around my neck. Her face was only inches from mine, another tingle rippled down my spine.
"Hey Brace-Face!" Charles shouted from behind me. I groaned, dropping my hands from Rylee's face. Rylee rolled her eyes and sat back in her chair.
"What Charles?" I asked impatiently glaring at him.
"Nothing." He said laughing hysterically. My jaw clenched and it took every ounce of self-control I had not to sock him in the face but again Rylee kept me cool.
"Just relax, he'll leave us alone eventually." She said calmly, resting her head against my chest. My arm snaked around her pulling her closer and holding her as tight as I could, never wanting to let her go. I glanced behind me in time to see Charles open his mouth to say something but Joe gave him a swift kick in the shin causing Charles to yelp much like a small dog. I looked at Joe and gave him a thankful smile. I wrapped my other arm around Rylee, once again resting my chin on her head. She looked up at me then stretched her neck up, planting a soft sweet kiss on my lips. My lips tingled slightly, as they always did when Rylee kissed me. We gazed at each other a smile playing on both of our lips. She leaned in, resting her forehead against mine.
"Um, you guys?" Joe piped up from behind us. "We're here."
