Here's a one-shot for ya! BTW, I still need OC's for my Fic, Warrior cats Fanfic:Fernstar! Mind you, some parts of this are seriously tongue-twisters. Try saying "River watched the river" 20 times. I guarantee you'll fail. I failed after just 4. d:
River watched the river; she watched as it rippled and waved; as it arched and curved; as it splashed and crashed: as it eroded its path in life, never letting anything get in its way. A storm? No problem. A part missing? Carry on.
Rivers go on and on. They do what they want, when they want. Nothing stops them. It's time to live up to my name: I can't let my father's death overwhelm me. I have to continue his legacy. I have to help others live their own names, too, and not just have them.
The silver she-cat waded into the trail of mighty, rushing, gushing water, letting its icy coldness wash away her doubts and worries.
Let the journey begin!
River left the river, but still stayed close. And she followed it: tracing its twists and turns; leaping down its cascading waterfalls. Observing the rainbows the river formed in the air above itself, the blue-eyed cat waited for someone to find her.
Settling down beside the river, River plunged a paw in, against the current, and scooped up a flopping fish. She flipped it onto the grassy bank. Then, she leapt onto it, killing the water-dwelling creature with ease. She froze. Pawsteps sounded behind her.
River turned to see a solemn, slate-grey she-cat with deep blue eyes; eyes so dark that they seemed almost black. The she-cat was short and stocky, her muscles showing immense strength earnt from moons of practice.
River nudged the fish towards the other she-cat. As the grey cat bent down to sink her fangs into its shimmering scales, River asked a question. A question so simple, yet so incredibly hard to answer.
"What's in a name?"
The she-cat looked taken aback by the random-sounding question, but stayed silent as River added:
"What is your name?"
Now the she-cat looked slightly suspicious.
"Storm," She replied, her dark eyes holding a tint of curiousity.
Suddenly, an image of a ferocious storm flitted over River's vision. It was mighty and strong, relentless and powerful. The mysterious silver cat delved deeper, then spoke, her mew a lilt of wisdom so knowing that it was outlandish:
"You are mighty and strong. But, only use your power to clear away the old to make way for the new. Never to destroy."
Storm's eyes widened, and she took a pace back, her tail trembling.
"How…how do you…know?" She croaked, in a voice that sounded almost like sand sifting down a rock.
River's ice-blue orbs shone; they had an edge of distance to them. She paused for a heartbeat, then mewed, her words echoing slightly.
"I…I am the river, and the river always knows; it has been here since before time. Since before moons existed."
Something in Storm's eyes flickered, and she turned, her straggly fur ruffling in the breeze. She was ready to achieve the destiny she had received from one simple, yet important, question:
What's in a name?
The answer.
The answer is within your name.
Boom! The end! Hope ya liked it :D! PLZ review!
