The hot spring shone like glass as Kagome approached the edge of the pool. The moonbeams from the full moon illuminated her body as she sank into the water. Her friends remained sleeping around the dying campfire, save Inuyasha who insisted on keeping guard. Kagome's nightmarish visions kept her from joining them in sleep. Still shaking from the terrifying images, she focused on relaxing in the pool of heated water. Idly chatting in the direction of her guard, who kept a constant vigilant ear perked towards her, she remembered to keep her voice low so that he could still hear if any intruder disturbed her. The night slowly drifted by as the heated water worked through her tensed muscles. Her aggravated nerves calming as she listlessly wades in the pool. Sweet notions of modern luxuries creeping into her thoughts, she sighs wishing she could have a bubble bath. He had done it again. Inadvertently, he was the cause of her nightmares and he did not even realize he was doing anything to her. They had promised to stay by each others sides, but she was still unsure of his feelings towards her. Every time he left to go, to see the dead one. She feared he would not come back to her. She knew that even if she died and allowed that bitch to take her soul, she would never accept him, she never had. The clay pot always wanted to change him, but Kagome loves him, hanyou, human, and demon. Damn his pride, damn his honor, those traits kept him tied to both of them. As much as he curses the humanity in his blood, the demon traits caused her the most difficulties. Possessive, aggressive, territorial and noble…damn nobility preventing her from being happy. Stupid honor keeping him distanced, but oh, how she loves it when he directs those things towards her. Why he insists that he owes the walking corpse anything besides the death of the dark hanyou she knows not. Wading closer to the edge of the pool, she goes to retrieve her soap and shampoo from the rocky outcropping she sat them on.
