"Mmmm!" Jessica stuffed a forkful of strawberry cake with sweet light cream and strawberries on each of the three layers into her mouth, giving a happy moan with each bite. "So good! I really gotta praise Gohda on this, it's just delicious!"

"I'm sure he will be pleased." Kanon said simply.

"Yum, yum," She continued happily. Then suddenly, she felt a napkin rubbing against her face, near her mouth. She looked at Kanon, holding said napkin in his hand.

"You had cream on your face."

"A-Ah, i-if that was the case, just tell me!" Her face flushed, embarrassed, waving her hand in frantic gestures. "I-I-I could've gotten it myself."

"No, no, I didn't mind."

"O-Okay..." She looked back down to her cake, her cheeks still a light red. "...Say, Kanon-kun?"

"Yes?"

"Are you sure you don't want some cake?"

"I'm fine."

"Hmm... It's really good though."

"I'm sure it is. However, I don't need to enjoy such things."

"Hmmm," She hummed to herself, discontent. "It's one of those 'I can't because I'm furniture' things, isn't it."

He didn't know how to respond to that, so he did as he always did and remained silent.

"Hmm," she was lost in a thought for a moment. Then her face brightened with a small, mischievous smile.

"Say, Kanon-kun," she drawled out his name.

"Y-Yes?" He was taken aback by her sudden cheery expression.

"Could you do me a favor?"

"Er, yes..."

"Close your eyes," she grinned wide enough to split her face, "and say 'aah.'"

"E-Err..."

"Come on," Jessica tried to hold back a giggle. He was so cute like that.

Kanon stared, at a loss, before sighing. He could never bring himself to say no to her, especially when she wore that bright smile. He closed his eyes with his mouth open and, feeling a little silly, "...Aaah—gurk."

Her fork forced itself into his mouth, and he found himself tasting flaky pastry and sweet cream and strawberries. Jessica laughed, triumphant.

"Got you! Sooo, how does it taste?" She laughed more, taking the fork out and leaving the cake in.

He stared, the sweet dessert sitting on his tongue as he took in the sound of her laugh. Then he sighed again, closed his mouth, and chewed slowly. There was a small twitch at the corner of his lips, a rare little smile from him.

He swallowed. "...It's very good."
