From the moment she saw him, she was surprised. She was surprised by his handsomeness. She was surprised by his voice, how pleasant she found it. She was surprised by his musculature and physique. She was surprised he played guitar, and sang. Mostly though, she was surprised at how much he cared for others. At his sensitivity, empathy even. She was surprised how a smile or a hug from him could make her day, and an offhand comment, or a wily glare could ruin it. She was surprised how quickly and how thoroughly she fell for him. She was surprised he couldn't tell how much she liked him. She was surprised that he started flirting back. She was surprised that he began to open up to her, as she did him. She was surprised how she had began to love him without realizing it. She was surprised by his response when she finally told her feelings. She was surprised how, one day he would hold her tight in his arms, and comfort her, and the next ignore her. She was surprised how deeply he affected her. She was surprised he didn't realise his power over her. She was surprised that maybe, just maybe, he could love her. She was surprised anyone could.
