Finn Hudson and his daughter Annabelle lived in an apartment on the Upper East Side. His wife Laura had died several years ago, and ever since then he's felt like something is missing. He needs someone to fill that empty hole in his heart, and most definitely Annabelle needs a mother.
Christmas roles around and Annabelle is writing her letter to Santa just like she always does, she usually asks for toys but this year, it's something different, a mom. That's all she wants, no toys, no new clothes, nothing. She begins to write,
'Dear Santa,
I know this may be unusual for a seven year old girl to write a letter asking for a mom, but it's truly all I want. Dad's not very good doing the girly things that I like to do. So Santa if you could please find me a mom.

Annabelle Hudson.'
Finn and Annabelle dropped the letter in the mailbox and began their adventure to lunch.
