Deeper Than This

Amanda sighed and tapped the pencil in her hand against the notebook in which she wrote, John had ordered her to work on new trap schematics, but Amanda had something else planned for her time. She was finally going to let John knew how she felt deep down inside, the love that went far beyond their father-daughter relationship. She worked herself to the bone to find something to help her grasp an idea, then she turned on the radio next to her, "Coming up next is the new single from Metallica called Nothing Else Matters, this is for all you lovers who work so hard to let the one you love know how you feel," the DJ spoke, followed by the slow rhythm of the ballad. Amanda closed her eyes and tried to think, "Man, this music is ruining my thinking process!" she turned to turn off the noise when she stopped, wait, this is the perfect song for John, she thought, writing down the lyrics with a photographic memory.

It was not long before Amanda smiled at her effort, and ran to John anxiously, "What's going on Amanda?" he asked, he gasped when he saw what his apprentice had turned herself into, she wore a red dress made of silk, that revealed a lot of her skin, John was mesmerized, "John, I want to tell you something, and I need to tell you face to face, okay here goes nothing,

John looked at her, still mesmerized by her appearance, "What do you know Amanda?"

"What I know, John, is that I love you," she couldn't believe it, she finally said it, "I love you too, you're like a daughter to me." he replied "No John, I mean I love you, my love for you goes deeper than this." she confessed, "Wow Amanda, at least one of us was able to speak our mind." John said, Amanda's mouth hung open in disbelief, "You mean to tell me that you've felt the same way about me all this time, why didn't you say something?" Amanda asked, "Same reason you didn't, I love you Amanda, I'm glad you're here." the two of them embraced and kissed, smiles showing on both of their faces.
