He watched uneasily as Katara poked at Zuko's shoulder. Her eyes were narrowed down in anger, Zuko's own eye matching her expression, and the two glared at each other.

"Don't treat Aang like that!" She warned him sharply.

Zuko bit back fire, opting to use his words rather than his bending, "I did nothing wrong."

"You're teaching is wrong."

"What is wrong about the way I teach my pupil?"

"He's my pupil as well!"

Aang frowned and air bended himself off of the ground. He stepped up between the two and looked at his two masters with worry. He held his arms up and attempted to separate the two intense people. "Please guys, don't fight!"

"Stay out of this, Avatar." Zuko shot, glaring angrily at Katara.

Her glower never left Zuko as well when she replied to him calmly, "It's alright Aang; I'll handle this,"

He looked at her woefully and air bended the two of them away from each other, "Katara, Zuko, stop fighting!" He told them strongly.

Sokka stared from the sidelines with amusement as Zuko was blown onto his behind, looking quite ruffled.

Katara looked at him with care and stepped up to him slowly. "Sorry Aang." She apologized, hugging him tightly. She placed a kiss onto his forehead, making the airbender blush despite the fact that their relationship was very much out in the opening by this time.

Zuko pulled himself to his feet and apologized as well. He walked away to his room for meditation.

"Thanks," Aang replied to them both, a large smile on.

---

They both stuck close to the fire (proudly made by Aang) that night, even when the others had headed off to bed.

Aang shifted until he was comfortable again and held onto her hands. The memory of earlier that day and even the past quarrels his Firebending master and his girlfriend (he still couldn't get over this) had crept into his thoughts and made his alone time with Katara slightly uncomforting.

When did Katara become so temperamental? What happened to the kind, sweet, albeit motherly, girl he fell in love with?

"Katara," He murmured softly, staring at the long pillar that stood strongly in front of them.

"Yeah, Aang?" She answered back, turning slightly to look at him.

He bit his tongue lightly and stared at her for a moment, searching her kindly face for an answer to his question, "W-What happened to the you I knew when we first met?"

This took her aback. She stared at him for a moment before she lowered her eyes on their hands and smiled sadly.

"A lot of things." She said. Katara stroked the top of his hand with her thumb and finally looked back at his face.

"You've gone through a lot Aang. I can't take watching you get hurt. I guess I changed because I wanted to help you. Make it so that you don't get hurt anymore."

He smiled weakly, gripping her hand a little tighter. "I feel the same way when it comes to you."

They both smiled more, looking at each other with loving eyes.

Katara may not be the same girl that she was when they met, but Aang loved the new her just the way she was. And, he believed, he would always love her; no matter what happened between them.
