CHAPTER 1: A white knight upon a fiery...grill?
She tossed around in her bed and grinned. "Breakfast" she whispered with glee, her stomach growling and her nostrils searching for the source. The sunlight beating down on her bed. Maya was a very optimistic girl, extremely cute, and petite. She was always bubbly and had an extreme passion for tasting food. Her eyes were cheerful and her hair a sweet honey blonde. Little did she know, this would be the day she'd meet her dream prince and her enemy at the same time.
"Maya!" called Yolanda from downstairs. Maya was a waitress at the inn, her grandma was a revered chef. Maya wanted nothing but to be like her grandmother. She wanted to cook, but Maya is and always will be a terrible chef. She sprang up from her sheets and grabbed her signature pink dress and wrapped her apron around her waist. She started dashing down the hall and made it to the stairs, where she bumped into Colleen, who ran the inn with her husband. "Hello, Maya. Hey! Best get down there and start on the silverware. We have a "new" chef coming in." Maya nodded and squealed down the stairs, Colleen shook her head and continued up.
"Hey, Gram!" Maya shouted running behind the counter.
"So, you heard the news?" She turned around handing Maya the tub of silverware.
"Oh poop. I hate doing silver ware." Maya griped.
"Then you better get it over with." Her grandma smirked.
The bell at the top of the inn door chimed, they both stopped in their tracks.
"Too late." Her grandma smiled.
A beam of white light shined in. Through the door came a tall and lean young man. His hair was wavy and golden.
Yolanda started for the door, Maya following behind. "Good morning. Chase, you have gotten so big!" She gestured for a hand shake.
Chase ignored the gesture. "Yes." Crossing his arms.
"Good, well... You remember my grand-daughter, Maya. She is the waitress now." She pushed Maya forward by the shoulders. " She'll show you to your room" She grabbed Maya's hand and place it behind her back, putting the keys in her hand and closing it. "He's cute" She whispered, Maya began to blush. Chase had glimmering amethyst eyes and strawberry blonde hair which he tucked away from his face with bobby pins.
Maya walked forward, gesturing to follow. She was smiling and blushing "This way." She lead him up stairs, pointing with both hands. "Your room is right next to mine. " she cheered. "I'm not staying here. They haven't finished my house yet, so I move in tomorrow." He replied rudely.
"Oh well, your temporary room is next to mine." She stared at him, an awkward pause held the silence. Chased scuffed. "Have you seen the town yet? I could show you." She offered. "That's fine." He replied discourteously, shutting the door in Maya's face. "Well that was mean." She grumbled, sticking her tongue out. "He'll warm up." A voice countered from behind her. Maya turned around startled. "He's just a lil' rough around the edges. He has been like that his entire life, dontchu you remember when you were kids?" Yolanda smiled. "Yeah, and he is just as mean now as he was then!"
"Let him get to know you again" Yolanda replied. "You still have dishes though."
"C'mon!" Maya griped. Yolanda chuckled back down the stairs, Maya walking behind her.
