"I kissed you once while you were sleeping. But it was a joke, I swear!" - Dave, to Jerry, episode three of Codemonkeys.

"Dave, we need to talk-"
"Dude, you need to relax. We just got a drug lord put in prison. We're like super heroes or something!"
Jerry leveled his orange-blond friend a glare that could freeze fire. "You say that as you're looking for a joint."
"Wanna join me?" Dave looked up at him with insanely blue eyes that just dared him to say yes.
"No thanks. Dave, can you quit dodging the subject all the time and just talk to me about this?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about," the other programmer returned flippantly, but the undercurrent in his voice told Jerry Dave knew exactly what he was talking about.
There was a moment of silence. The building was going quiet as everyone (except Benny) left. A few muffled voices reached them, but aside from that the only sound was the whirr of the industrial lights. Jerry glanced about the room. Green walls that Dave had painted while completely stoned, the mysterious stain that had been there when they moved in... This was such a familiar scene, aside from the room being clean. This could have been any night where Dave was making a mess of the office. Jerry could just let this drop, and today could end peacefully.
But...
"You kissed me?" Jerry blurted out, "While I was sleeping?"
"Look, man, when I said that, I thought we were going to die." Dave returned, looking into his friend's dark brown eyes with something bordering on sincerity. "I really don't wanna talk about this."
"Why'd you kiss me?" Jerry pressed, eyebrows raised.
"Look, man," Dave stood up, "If you're not gonna let this drop, I'm gonna go get stoned at my place, m'kay?"
Jerry mumbled something in response, and blushed red. Unfortunately for him, his friend had very good hearing.
Dave halted in mid stride, halfway out the door, eyes wide. "What did you just say, dude?"
"Nothing. You're tripping."
"I haven't had anything yet."
Jerry turned even redder. "I said, 'next time you kiss me, do it when I'm awake'."
For a second, their eyes met. Neither or them knew what to say. They were supposed to be straight, both of them. But judging by the way Dave was now blushing, maybe Jerry was wrong. Jerry didn't dare ask. Dead silence reigned. Jerry's hands, clasped behind his back, were shaking slightly. No one was here. They could do anything, set fire to the building, get high, and no one would have to know. There was no one to front for here, if the straightness of Dave was only a front. They'd goofed off here playing video games all night before. No one would think it strange for them to be here, no one would question them. Jerry bit his lip nervously, waiting for his friend to say something, anything. Gingerly, he stepped closer. Dave didn't seem to be freaking out. He looked cool with this, actually, he looked kind of happy, though his jaw was hanging wide open. Jerry smiled, awkwardly, and reached for his friend's hand.
"Whatever, man," Dave snapped the second Jerry's fingers brushed against him, and in an instant he had turned and ran down the hall, leaving a rejected man behind him.
Quick as lightning, Jerry ran to the window and opened it, not ready to give up just yet. Sure enough, seconds later Dave appeared below, headed for his car. "So is that a yes?"
The other man paused, considered pretending he hadn't heard, but instead smiled in a distinctly carefree, Dave way. "Yeah, but only once!"
Jerry didn't hear the only once part. He was too busy rejoicing over the yeah.
