She had a dream of becoming a princess, like every other little girl from her regular town, in their regular houses, living regular lives. This little girl, though, was different from the rest. She truly wished her wildest dreams would become real, her dreams of becoming rich, being waited on hand and foot, and being the most elegantly-dressed girl in the world. Though that is not who she was, and she knew this. She knew that she was a regular, average girl, with her plain black hair and brown eyes. She knew that she wasn't related to any kings or queens. And she definitely knew that she didn't have all the money in the world.
But this girl, Taeko Yasuhiro, wasn't the average girl. She was different from the rest, it turns out, and simply…not in the exact ways she wanted. She was above average when it came to her intelligence and mental growth. Her classmates, even in her kindergarten class, knew that she was different from them, more…adult. She didn't even play with them at recess, instead choosing to stay inside and read a book (often something on card games). And, speaking of card games, whenever her class played a card game, she won every single time, without fail. She was a natural.
After a while, Taeko had created a princess character in her head, the girl she wanted to be. Celestia Ludenberg. The girl with silky, shiny black hair tied in curly pigtails, beautiful, perfect skin and piercing red eyes. The girl who won every card game, even against the greatest players in the world. The rich, princess girl, living in a castle, dressed in the finest, most elegant clothes, with servants waiting on her hand and foot… This is who Taeko wished to be. She had this feeling that is who she was meant to be.
And so, one day, completely out of the blue, she asked everyone she knew to begin referring to her as "Celestia". Her parents didn't understand this at all, nor did her classmates or teachers, who got rather confused. To top it off, each time anyone forgot and called her "Taeko", she refused to answer, and if they kept it up, she would get very, very angry, screaming at them. This got her sent to the principal's office more than once, where she would have to explain herself.
"Ah, hello, principal… Whatever am I here for?" she would question.
"I heard you yelled at your teacher. Again." The same reply always came.
"You see, about that… She wouldn't refer to me by my name."
"Yes, but the change was so sudden. Anyways, you could at least remind her kindly. And you do know that your given name is not Celestia, correct?"
"I am aware. Celestia Ludenberg is the name I go by."
The principal would then give her parents a call- which would oft never be answered, her parents too busy with work to answer even their cell phones. Her father worked at some sort of factory, and her mother worked in an office, you see. But on the rare occasion they did receive the calls, they brushed it off, allowing their daughter to live as she pleased, per usual.
"Maybe one day," the girl always thought, "Maybe everyone will remember Celestia Ludenberg is the name I go by…"
