Hello, I've finally upheld my promise of a crossover between awakening and Akame Ga Kill!
The only thing stopping you from reading is the usual disclaimer: I don't own any of the above.
Please enjoy!
"Leone!"
Akame ran towards Leone. Just like Tatsumi, her friend had fused with her Teigu. She had lion features all over her body.
"Yo! Looks like we filled both our quotas…" She grinned, "One man, one kill."
The red-eyed killer knew that she was talking about the prime minister. She heard his screams when she ran over here. Then she noticed her arm is collapsed against her stomach.
"Those wounds! You've been hurt badly! I'll call for the doctor right away!"
"Don't worry." Akame stopped and stared at Leone, who continued to smile at her. "I'm fine now."
"The hell you are!" She shouted. "He even managed to keep Tatsumi alive! He'll be able to help you, too!"
"I said…" Leone reached out and held Akame against her chest. "I'm fine now."
Akame felt her body through her cheek. She felt ice cold.
"The fact that I've been able to keep moving up til now is nothing short of a miracle…" Leone continued. "It's only thanks to the fact that my body had fused."
"But even still, we were able to do something for Tatsumi!" Akame cried, her voice breaking. "We can help you too!"
"So… Tatsumi made it?" Leone lets go of Akame. "That's a relief."
"No, it's not!" Leone looked surprised at her words. Akame became distressed "When I came back to check on him, he was no longer there! Witnesses say that the body just vanished into thin air!"
Leone looked shocked at her words. "What do you mean he vanished?"
"I have something to do with it."
The girls turned to see a robed man. His hood shrouded his face, blocking any distinguishing features except for blue hair. They got into a fighting stance, before remembering that one of them is close to death the other unarmed.
"My name is Anankos. Don't be alarmed, I have only come to uphold my end of the bargain."
"Bargain?" Akame didn't look convinced. "Are you here to kill us in retribution?"
"I have no grudge against you," he raised his hand. Suddenly Akame felt light, she looked down and saw the markings from the poison in her body fading. Within seconds, they vanished completely.
"What did you do?"
Anankos didn't answer and turned his attention to Leone. Light gathered around her, and she became healthy. The wounds in her stomach have vanished. Akame reached out and touched her. The ice cold feeling is now warmth.
"Your…" Akame breathed.
"I healed you of your ailments," Anankos explained. "To be honest, even if Tatsumi didn't accept my offer, I would've done it anyway."
"Tatsumi?" Akame's attention turned to him, suspicion back on her face. "What did you do with him! Where is he?!"
"He's safe," Anankos. "I cannot say more, but know this: you will see him again."
Then he began to fade. "I can tell from his face, he is a man that can keep his promises."
"Wait!" Akame rushed toward him, reaching out to grab him. "Tell me! Where is he?!"
But had already vanished and she only grasped thin air as she screamed to the sky.
"WHERE IS TATSUMI?"
Akame bolted upright screaming the question.
She calmed down after taking a deep breath.
It was just a dream about that day. The day that Tatsumi was whisked away from her and the others. Najenda is having former revolutionary spies search for him, even Leone joined in. Akame provided a description of the man who stole him away.
She and Najenda decided to refrain from telling Mine. The pinkette had just come out of her coma, and adding the possible loss of Tatsumi will be another heavy blow on her.
After the execution of the emperor, she boarded the nearest boat and sailed away to search for him. Using the Rongo Rongo, she searched for anything that might give her a clue to where Tatsumi might be. She was paying too much attention to it that she didn't notice the storm coming before it's too late. She fell into the ocean and lost Rongo Rongo in the process.
Now she woke up in a bedroom.
She sat up and the blanket fell down, revealing night clothes. Akame wondered where her clothes had gone when the door opened.
"Oh! You're up!" A boy entered with her clothes. "Forgive me, but I have taken the liberty of drying your clothes."
He placed them near her feet. Akame became grateful for her clothes but she still had questions.
"Where am I? How did I get here?"
"You're in Southtown. Precisely my sister's tavern. As for how you got here, someone carried you here. They paid for your fare and left. You were soaking wet, what happened?"
"Shipwreck," Akame replied. "A storm hit my boat and I ended up here. But could you tell me about who brought me here?"
"I couldn't see much because of the hood. But I can make out their green eyes and brown hair."
Akame bolted at that. That description fits Tatsumi. Could it be? She reached out and grabbed his lapels.
"Where did you see him?! Did he go anywhere?!"
"Y-yeah," he stammered at her sudden outburst. "He went north after dropping you off."
Akame let go of him and shot up from the bed and started removing her nightwear. The poor lad looked flustered at how she was stripping in front of her. He covered his eyes as she got dressed in her old clothes.
"Thanks for your hospitality, but I have to go," She finished putting on her gauntlets. "Do you have a map and sword I can use?"
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going to go after him. He's the reason that I am here."
"But-"
"Look, if money is the issue I can pay you back. But not right now! I cannot lose this lead…" Akame looked at him desperately, the pain of losing too many comrades on her face. "Please understand."
The boy looked at her for a moment, then sighed. "Okay, but don't worry about the money. The guy paid for your fee's. I'll get a map, and as for your sword, it's right on the table. The guy said to not touch it."
"Sword? Okay at least I manage to keep that-" She stopped when she saw the sword on the table. The correct term would be Teigu because that sword is the One-cut killer Murasame. Esdeath destroyed it during their final battle. Yet here it was, intact.
Akame picked it up and felt it's weight. It didn't reject her, as if it was waiting for her for a long time.
"Are you alright miss?" The boy nervously asked.
"I-i'm fine," She replied, drawing the blade from the scabbard. The edge shone from the light. "It's just… how did this get here?"
"The guy had it on him," Akame turned to him. "He told us to give it to you when you wake up. Even paid us extra. Said that you'll need it for what's about to happen."
"What did he mean?"
"I don't know," He shrugged. "But if you ask me, it's better that you keep a weapon on you at all times. With the brigand's attacks and all."
"Brigands?"
Before he could answer her, a woman rushed in. Akame assumed that the lady is the boy's sister. She had a panicked look on her face.
"Benjy! Get find Lily and get out of here, now!"
"Why what's wrong Mary?"
"Brigands are attacking! We need to go!"
Four people are walking down the road to town. Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick had found Robin laying in a field. He had no memory. Lissa assumes he is suffering from amnesia, but Frederick remained suspicious of him.
"What will you do with me?" the white-haired man asked. "Am I to be your prisoner?"
"Hah!" Chrom chuckled. "You'll be free to go once we establish that you're no enemy of Ylisse."
"Is that where we are? Ylisse?"
"You've never heard of the halidom?" Frederick asked with suspicion. "Ha! Someone pay this actor. He plays quite the fool! The furrowed brow is especially convincing…"
"Frederick, please," Chrom chastised. "This land is known as the Halidom of Ylisse. Our ruler, Emmeryn, is called the exalt. I suppose proper introductions are in order... My name is Chrom—but then, you already knew that. The delicate one here is my little sister, Lissa."
"I am NOT delicate!" She protested. Lissa gave a grunt of disapproval and turned to the amnesiac. "Ignore my brother, please. He can be a bit thick sometimes. But you're lucky the Shepherds found you. Brigands would've been a rude awakening!"
"Shepherds?" he raised an eyebrow in skepticism. "You tend sheep… in full armor?
"Heh, it's a dangerous job," Chrom replied Just ask Frederick the Wary here."
"A title I shall wear with pride," Frederick declared. "Gods forbid one of us keeps an appropriate level of caution. I have every wish to trust you, stranger, but my station mandates otherwise."
"I understand, sir. I would do no less myself. My name is Robin. …I just remembered that. How odd. I suppose that's one mystery solved."
"Robin? Is that foreign?" Chrom wondered. "Ah, well. We can discuss it later. We're almost to town. Once we—"
"Chrom, look!" Lissa cried. "The town!"
Up ahead, dark clouds are rising above the town. The universal signal for a fire.
"Damn it!" Chrom cursed. "The town is ablaze! Those blasted brigands, no doubt... Frederick, Lissa! Quickly!"
"What about him?" Frederick pointed to Robin
"Unless he's on fire as well, it can wait!"
"Aptly put, milord."
"Let's go already!"
The three of them left Robin all by himself. More specifically, Frederick's horse galloped ahead while Chrom and Lissa ran as fast as their legs can carry them.
"But what about— Hmm…"
After a brief moment of decision, he ran after them.
"Brigands?" Akame asked.
"They have been attacking villages throughout the halidom," Benjy answered. "We need to get out of here!"
"No," Akame voiced stopped them cold. "Do you have a hidden basement or somewhere you can hide?"
"It's down near the front," Mary answered. "We can hide there until the Shepherds come."
Do they trust people who tend sheep to guard them? Akame waved that thought aside for the moment. "Get your family down there and lock the door. Don't open it until I give the all clear."
"You're not coming?" Benjy asked as she walked out of the room.
"No," Akame firmly stated.
"You're going to fight the brigands, aren't you?" Mary asked in a small voice, following her. When she didn't answer, "You can't! There's too many of them!"
"That's their downfall," Akame calmly replied, walking down the stairs and over to the door. "They believe that they can overwhelm me with more meat bags. But they all have one weakness."
"What is that?"
"They have a beating heart," Akame opened the door. Without looking back, she told her to lock the door and walked out.
Akame strode into the town square. Everywhere she looked, houses were set ablaze. Brigands ransacked whatever they could find. They would occasionally find a helpless villager to cut down. She could even hear them laughing about.
Then they spotted her.
"Hey Garrick," One shouted to whom she assumed to be the leader of these Brigands. "Look at what we found?!"
Garrick looked over at her with a lecherous look in his eyes as he whistled. "Now that's a what you call a woman."
Akame stared at them with a cold glare. She drew out Murasame from its scabbard and got into a fighting posture.
The brigand just looked at her and laughed.
"Ooh, the little lass as a toothpick! What are you going to do? Skewer us?"
"Put down the sword little lass," Garrick mockingly tapped his axe on the ground. "Those are too dangerous to carry around for yourself."
"I consign you."
Everyone who heard it felt like something crawled up their spines. Something about this girl is warning them to run for their lives. The girl just stared coldly at them, unblinking, which unnerved them even more. She didn't show any hint of fear at them.
Garrick gave a short laugh.
"Well, what do you know? This little lass has a mouth. We will have to do something about that before we have fun with you. Lads?"
A few men with axes and swords came forward and surrounded her. She still didn't move at all. One of them approached her.
"What's wrong, are you scared? This is what you get for-"
"Eliminate."
"Huh?"
Faster than anyone could blink, his throat spurted blood. He fell to the ground gasping for air. This took the brigands by surprise before they became enraged. Roaring, they charged at her with their weapons raised. But they weren't fast as Akame.
With her superior speed, she slashed them across the chest at once. Without even making sure they're dead, she charged forward towards the remaining brigands.
"What are you idiots waiting for?!" Garrick shouted at his men. "Kill the wench already!"
One of them raised a book at arm's length. Then, a fireball flew at her. Akame didn't flinch as she expertly dodged with ease. As she passed the mage, she slashed the book along with the arm. The mage howled with pain as she kept running.
Two brigands with swords charged at her bringing their blades for a downward slash. Akame leaped to the side and impaled them with Murasame. She pulled it out and continued towards Garrick.
Garrick looked at her with terror in his eyes and shoved his last two men forward. They feebly raised their axes at her and swung. Akame gracefully dropped down and slid between them. She slashed their tendons and they fell on one knee. Finally, she came face to face with Garrick.
"Don't think you'll take me down easily you witch!" He charged toward her. Akame swung Marasume at him. Unlike the others, he blocked the strike with his axe handle. However, the tip scratched his finger. Garrick backed away from her, getting ready to charge again,
But to his surprise, Akame just sheathed her sword and walked away.
"Hey! What are you doing? Get back here and-"
"Boss!" Garrick turned to one of his fellow brigands. Black markings have appeared all over his body. They all trailed from the cut he got from the wound on his tendons. With a gasp, he fell to the ground dead. Garrick looked at his arm and saw the same markings trailing from the scratch on his finger.
"What the hell did...you..."
Those were his last words before Murasame's poison reached his heart. He fell to the ground dead.
"Targets eliminated."
Chrom, Lissa, and Frederick arrived in town. They found the town in a state of ruin. Buildings were burned down but no longer on fire. But above else, everything is still intact.
But that wasn't what surprised them.
"Where are the brigands?" Frederick asked.
Chrom wondered the same thing. But before he could inquire, a familiar face came behind them.
"Robin! You followed us! Why?"
"I was going to help you fight the brigands. But it appears that you've already dealt with it."
"We didn't," Chrom replied. "By the time we got here, we've found no brigands in sight."
"Huh?" Robin looked around. "What happened?"
"That's what we're about to find out," Frederick called out to a passerby. "Boy, what happened to the brigands?"
"They have been routed, milord. This lady came and killed every last one."
"Just one person?" Frederick raised an eyebrow. "Are you certain of this boy?"
"Frederick," Chrom groaned. He addressed the boy. "Forgive him, he's usually like this. Could you tell us where we can find this person?"
"She's at my sister's tavern," He pointed to a building with a boar sign. "The village is having a feast in her honor."
"Thank you," Chrom gestured for his companions and Robin to follow him.
"So the one who saved the village is just one woman?" Lissa said excitedly. "That is awesome! I wonder what she's like!"
"I imagined she's incredibly skilled," Robin stated. "Judging from the damage, there must have been a roughly eight brigands. She had to be incredibly skilled to be able to defeat them by herself."
"You can deduce that from a glance?" Chrom asked. "You must be skilled yourself."
"I guess that's one thing," They arrived at the Tavern. "Well, we're here."
They ented the tavern, and what they found made their jaws drop to the floor in shock.
On a table, a variety of meat dishes are being eaten by a black haired girl. She ate with incredible speed, even as people kept refilling the table. Judging from their expressions, they're as shocked as the Shepherds are.
"HOLY MOLEY!" Lissa shouted. "Frederick, how is she eating all of that?!"
"I-I don't know Lady Lissa," even Frederick is in shock.
Chrom and Robin looked flabbergasted at the appetite of the woman. Then Chrom cleared his and addressed the woman.
"Excuse me? Miss, could we talk?"
She stopped and turned to him. Chrom is surprised at her red eyes. They weren't that common in Ylisse."
"Would you happen to be-"
"You can't have any."
"What?" Chrom was taken aback from her tone and words. She turned around and went back to eating her food.
"I think she's referring to her food Chrom," Robin said. "She thinks you want it."
"I see," Chrom got her attention again. "Miss, we aren't going to take your food, I promise. We just wanted to know if you are the one who routed the brigands raiding this village."
She blinked. "Yes."
"O-okay," Chrom was taken aback by her blunt personality. "May I ask your name miss?"
"Akame."
"Akame?" Chrom muttered. "Is that foreign?"
"Judging by her clothing I'd say so Chrom," Robin whispered.
"Yes, I am not from around here."
Both of them jumped.
"You heard that?" Chrom asked sheepishly.
"Yes."
"My apologies," Chrom amended. "Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Chrom. I am the captain of the Shepherds."
"The Shepherds." Akame's eyes widened. Then she got up from the table and walked over to him. Frederick moved to intercept but Chrom waved him off. Akame stood in front of him, then held out a piece of paper.
"The Brigand's leader, Garrick, had this on him," She stated as if she's giving a report to a superior officer. "He must have been hired to raze this village and it's inhabitants."
"It must have been Plegians again," Frederick said, a dark expression on his face.
"Plegians? What's that?" Robin asked.
"Plegia is Ylisse's westerly neighbor," Chrom's look matched Fredericks. "They send small bands into our territory, hoping to instigate a war."
"And it's the poor townsfolk who suffer!" Lissa shouted in anger. "Totally innocent, and totally helpless…"
"They do have us, milady: Shepherds to protect the sheep," Frederick stated calmly. "Do not be swept up in your anger. It will cloud your judgment."
" I know, I know don't worry. I'll get used to all this."
"Anyway," Chrom brought his attention back to Akame. "I came to ask if you can come with us. We can use someone of your skill."
"No."
"May I ask why?"
"I'm here to find someone," Akame replied with a look of sadness on her face. "I cannot let anything distract me until I find him."
"Maybe we can help," Lissa chimed in. "We have someone who can send people to look for him."
"She's right," Robin stated, everyone looked at him. "With a lot more manpower, you can cover more ground instead of exhausting yourself. When you get word of your missing friend, we can go get him."
Akame looked at him. Then she nodded.
"That's sound like something my boss would say to me," Akame said. "Very well, I will join you."
"Great," Chrom nodded in thanks.
"Yay! We have another lady on the Shepherds!" Lissa shouted.
"Let us be off to Ylisstol immediately," Frederick said.
"What, we're not staying?! But, Frederick, it's nearly dark!"
"When night falls, we'll camp. Eat off the land, make our bed of twigs and the like... I believe you mentioned you would be "getting used to this"?"
"Frederick?" Lissa huffed. "Sometimes I hate you."
"You've quite the stern lieutenant there," Robin stated.
"Yeah, well, 'stern' is one name for it. I can think of a few others!"
"Frederick only smiles when he's about to bring down the axe," Chrom dryly remarked.
"Duly noted."
"Ahem. You do realize I AM still present?" Frederick glared.
"Oh, we realize," Chrom chuckled with Robin.
"Milord remains as amusing as ever. Now then, shall we be going?"
"All right, all right. Ready to go, Robin and Akame? The capital isn't far."
"Just one thing," Everyone looked at Akame as she looked at the tavern owner.
"Can I have another helping?"
Everyone hit the floor.
"Frederick is definitely going to put the food store's under lock and key," Chrom chuckled.
"Considering that all of her dishes are meat," Robin chuckled. "I doubt that he will keep an eye on everything."
"True. He'll probably keep an eye on the lambs. The actual ones mind you," Both of them laughed at the joke.
"If you are done joking milord," Frederick grumbled. "I have something to report regarding Akame."
"What is it, Frederick?"
"I asked to see the bodies of the brigands and something is odd. The wounds inflicted by her weren't life-threatening. Some were meant to cripple or incapacitate them, but they were all dead."
"I see," Chrom nodded.
"There's more. Witnesses watching the battle say that after she slashed them with that sword of hers, markings appeared from the cuts it inflicted. They said that it killed Garrick from a single scratch. Whatever these markings are, they disappeared after they died."
Both men looked shocked at those words. A sword that can kill people with a scratch? What is the history behind Akame?
"I would advise caution milord. She could be an assassin after your life."
"Frederick, I understand your concern. But if she wanted me dead, she would've done it already."
"Besides, she took down an entire band of brigands," Robin stated. "I doubt that we will put up much of a challenge for her."
"Regardless, I will be keeping an eye on her," Frederick declared.
"If that makes you happy Frederick," Chrom sighed. He decided to ask Akame about her sword later. They proceeded to join up with Lissa and Akame.
It was time to head to Ylisstol.
Well, that's the first chapter. Akame, in her search for Tatsumi, has stepped into the world of Awakening.
Before you ask, it should be obvious on the answer to who is the guy in the hood.
Next time, the party camps out and start small talk, especially about Murasame. I think you know what happens next, but if you don't, play the game or watch the playthrough. Lastly, Akame finds out that her weapon has been upgraded.
Feel free to guess what kind of upgrade.
Akame ga Emblem! Awakening: Kill the Change.
