A Serious Conversation
Sirius
emerged into the Gryffindor common room to find Remus and Peter occupying their
usual armchairs in the far corner.
"Hey
Moony. Hey Wormtail," he said to them.
"Hi
Padfoot," they said.
"So, did
you hear that we're having a huge test in transfiguration class tomorrow?"
asked Sirius.
"We can't
be!" shouted Remus frantically. "Are
you serious?"
"Of
course I am," Sirius grinned.
"Not like
that," said Remus with exasperation.
"Are you serious?"
"I already
answered you, Moony," said Sirius. "You
should know who I am. We've been
friends for four years now." Remus
rolled his eyes and Peter looked confused.
Just then, James walked in, accompanied by Lily, who seemed angry and
was yelling at him.
"I am
serious, James Potter!" Sirius and
Remus looked at each other and laughed.
James noticed them.
"No
you're not. He is," James pointed to
Sirius. Lily groaned.
"You know
what I mean!" she said.
"No I
don't," James grinned. "How can you be
Sirius when he is?"
"Yeah,"
Sirius played along. "I thought your
name was Lily. Did you change it?" She made a disgusted face.
"So,
really, were you serious about that test?" asked Remus to Sirius.
"I told
you I'm Sirius!" said Sirius.
"What
test?" asked James.
"The one
we supposedly have in transfiguration class tomorrow," said Remus. "According to Sirius, who won't tell me if
he's serious."
"I am
Sirius!" said Sirius once again. "Quit
forgetting my name." Lily had stormed
off to her dorm room.
"So, what
were you and Lily arguing about?" asked Remus.
"She got
mad about the Snape in the hula skirt thing last week. She thinks we're too mean to him," said
James, rolling his eyes.
"We
weren't being serious about trying to be mean to him. It was just for fun,"
pointed out Sirius.
"Well,
maybe you were," said Remus, laughing.
"That was
just dumb, Moony," said Sirius.
"Really? Are you serious?" Remus grinned.
"Knock it
off, I'm warning you," said Sirius.
"Are you
serious?" asked James, grinning.
"I'm
gonna hurt you if you don't knock it off," threatened Sirius.
"Oh,
no! I think he's being serious!" Remus
told James, laughing.
"No, he's
always been Sirius!" James was cracking up.
"That's
it," said Sirius, getting ready to stand up.
"I think we
better run now, Prongs," said Remus.
"Are you
serious?" James asked him.
"No, he
is!" said Remus.
"Yes, and
in more ways than one!" Sirius took off after Remus and James who were running
from him. Lily reemerged from the
girl's dorm room.
"James, I
need to have a serious conversation with you, now," she tried to tell James, as
Sirius still chased him and Remus around the common room.
"How can
you have a serious conversation without Sirius?" asked Remus, curiously. Lily rolled her eyes.
"Yeah,"
said James. "I'm terribly sorry, but I
can't have a Sirius conversation because my name's not Sirius."
"I am so
gonna hurt you two!" Sirius shouted to James and Remus.
"I'm
going to help," added Lily. They chased
each other around the room for a few more minutes. Finally, Sirius caught the two of them and pushed them against
the wall.
"Uh-oh,
Moony," said James. "Looks like we're
in some serious trouble now."
"Are you
Sirius?" Remus asked James.
"No, he
is!" said James.
"Oh, you
guys are too much!" Sirius said with exasperation and turned to leave.
"But,
wait, one more thing," said Remus. "Are
you serious about that test?"
