Belgium sighed as she looked out her bedroom window to the tables and chairs set up in the back yard. Today is here wedding day though she doesn't seem very excited about it. After all it was a forced marriage, to Spain. She liked Spain, very much, but not to the point in marrying him. Even her brother, the strong and powerful, Netherlands was against the marriage. Mostly because he hated Spain in general but now he had an even bigger reason to.
"Who does he think he is, asking your hand in marriage?" asked Netherlands as he angrily paced the floor in her room back and forth. "Brother, he said it's to help improve relations with our bosses and also to help each other's weakened economies" said Belgium as she turned her head to look at her older brother. "Improve relations my ass! And your economy isn't weak!" retorted Netherlands as he angrily left out a puff of Opium smoke from his pipe. "Brother, what did I say about smoking that?" said Belgium as she coughed and waved the smoke out of her face. "Sorry…." He said as he sighed and sat by the other window next to the one his sister sat at and held is pipe out the window so the smoke would go outside.
"It…helps calm me…." She looked over and smiled a bit. "Doesn't seem to be keeping you too calm now does it?" she asked as she giggled and ruffled his spiky hair.
"I just don't trust him, is all. I've seen the way he looks at you" he said as he took another hit from his pipe. "Stop that! He doesn't look at me like that!" she remarked. "Look I know you're against the marriage but it must be done. I don't like it much either but it'll have it's benefits."
Netherlands sighed and patted her lap. "I know…everything will turn out fine." He said as Belgium smiled and kissed his forehead causing him to blush.
A few hours later, Belgium walked around the crowd of countries looking for an empty seat to sit at. She let out a sigh and watched as everyone talked, laughed and drank the punch she had worked so hard to prepare. "Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves…I wish I could feel the same about all this…"
Just then she saw a pair of what appeared to be bunny ears sticking out from a near by bush. "Is brother wearing those bunny ears I made him again?" she asked herself as she walked over to investigate. She carefully grabbed the ears and gave a slight tug. "Ow! That hurt!" a voiced called out from the bush. Belgium didn't recognize the voice but she knew it didn't belong to her brother. The ears slowly rise from the bush and a man wearing glasses and a very fancy outfit stepped out and brushed his clothes off.
"…..?" asked Belgium with a confused look. The man who she called Austria, pulled a gold pocket watch out from his vest pocket and checked the time. "Oh dear! I'm late! I'm late for a very important date!" he exclaimed as he put the pocket watch back in his vest pocket and ran off. "Wait!" said Belgium as she lifted her dress up to chase after him.
She followed him until she saw a large rabbit hole by the tall oak tree. "Wait! ! What's going on?" asked Belgium as she witnessed the man jump into the rabbit hole. "Wait…" Belgium leaned over the rabbit hole to see were he had fallen to but it was much too deep and dark to see anything. Suddenly her knees gave weigh and she tumbled down the rabbit hole.
Little the Belgium know that she was about to awake in an entirely new world.
