A/N: This is my second favorite P3 pairing. Well, I like them either as a pairing, or as platonic life partners, but still.
Empress/Espresso
You didn't have to fall in love with her. You already were in love with her. Before you saw her. Before you knew her name. She is, and has always been, the scarlet-haired presence, your conscience, a whispering and blinding light, that stands threateningly somewhere in the not-so-back of your mind and makes you wonder, at odd hours, "Would she kill me for this?"
(And if the answer is yes, you refrain.)
And then, because if that wasn't enough to make you wonder if you're too attached to her, or something, she is also the soft hand that wakes you from memories of fire, the unyielding and rending beauty that banishes every hint of shadow, every drop of blood. She is the one who you look for in your corner, the one who is unstoppable and always will be.
She is, in short, really not conducive to a good night's sleep.
And she knows. How could she not know? She knows everything about you - your beliefs and fears and impure thoughts and if you haven't been eating balanced breakfasts - without looking up from her book.
So, when you should be going to bed (tomorrow's an early day, you have to keep training, you can't give up now) you are instead wandering down to the lounge. Just to check. Because the light is still on down there, and the TV's not blaring so it isn't Iori.
You find her. She is tying the belt on her trench coat, her purse resting on the coffee table beside her.
"You're still up?" she asks. She looks faintly pleased. "The others have left for some dance club in the mall. It's a nice evening, so I thought I might go out as well. Coffee?"
You'll never get to sleep that way.
But you tell her "Sure," because you're not getting any younger, and she's just brushed her hair back in that way that keeps you up all night.
Love me some coffee. Thanks for the read ~ please drop me a review!
