He sat alone in the darkness of his basement. He had given up working on his boat, it didn't seem to serve its purpose anymore. He usually works on it when he wants to forget about anything and everything. Especially work. But tonight his thoughts were all about work, all about what the day had brought, all about Caitlin Todd.

His Special Agent, the reason he went to work, the one who was always loyal to him to the end.

She filled his thoughts, his dreams and now she was gone. She was gone and she couldn't be brought back.

He remembers every last word he had said to her and her last, unfinished words to him. The scene plays itself over and over, he misses her and would do anything to get her back.

'Why did that Bastard take Kate? It wasn't his decision to make.' He thinks to himself as he takes another sip of his bourbon, it doesn't seem to hold the same effect as it once did either. He'll never forget. He'll never forget her face, her perfume, her charm and wit.

When he dreamt about her, they were together, he'd broken his precious Rule 12 and let her in, told her is deepest darkest secrets, his hopes and dreams, his greatest fears and weaknesses.

He wasn't sure if she felt the same way, maybe she did. Would he have risked his job, his career for her? I guess that's something we will never know but wish that we did.

He had found a CD in her draw and brought it home, placed it in his CD player and listened to the song.

The words to the 3 Doors Down song echo through the house, the basement, his head, his heart and his dreams. He closed his eyes and let sleep come upon him, drowning in the words.
