Howdy people. My first post on this site is going to be a bit of poetry... technically a song, but I don't have the capacity to get the instrumental done anytime soon, so I figured I might as well post it. Hope you all like...

Disclaimer: I don't own Batman... but if I did, I'd license the villain names and costumes to real criminals. On the down low, of course. You know readership on that villain will bounce up significantly if he's on the news...

Gotham City

Where the sky is so dark

And the criminals young

Where the villains are famous

And most heroes unsung

There can be found

A man of the night

Who fights the crime spree

Hoping for justice, people hold their breath

It comes from a man still mourning other's death

No where else to be found

The last hero in town

In Gotham City

With psychos running rampant

And the public in fear

With the news giving nothing

But bad news to hear

With the town held hostage

By a freak with a coin

No one else will you see

The cops have tried and they have failed

The real villains seem to have the cops prevailed

A man of the night

Who continues the fight

For Gotham City

The Joker's about to gas Town Hall

Bright in the sky is the hero's call

But while he saves Mayor Hill from the cruel death smile

There's a child

At least one child

Who dies at the hands of a father, drunk and wild

Too much crime

Can't save everyone every time

In Gotham City

So the mobs shoot each other

And innocents die

It eventually falls

Under his watchful eye

But he can't predict it

He can't protect them

Preemptively

And so he tries, and yet he fails

Too much of a fight for one man it entails

But he must continue

Through crushed bone and sinew

For Gotham City

Till he meets a henchman's young one

Who he saves from the bullet of the Black Mask's gun

One youth who learns the right and wrong and will not aid the crime

Just one child

At least one child

Who learns not to become something vile

It's a step in his favor

A victory to savor

For Gotham City

So when he jumps from a building

To protect the weak

When he beats up the crime lords

Till they're too hurt to speak

He's secure in the belief

one day there'll be no more

Joe Chills running free

To save them all from his horrid fate

To stop them from becoming vengeance incarnate

He'll keep up the task

Be the man in the mask

Saving Gotham City
