WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AMERICANS WRITE "THE DARK IS RISING".
Disclaimer: This fic is in honour of the Dark is Rising movie. I do not own anything to do with Dark is Rising - this is just a bit of fun, chicklets, okay?
Summary: In honour of the upcoming movie... All the American characters have to affect the story somehow... An American re-imagining of what would happen to Will Stanton after 'Silver on the Tree'!
"This can't be happening," James whimpered. "I'm a good Catholic boy."
"We're church of England," Will reminded him.
James used a one-fingered retort, along with a jaded, "Whatever."
The shadow demon advanced, snarling, all black tentacles and shiny claws and bright blue teeth, which were a bit distracting. The whole family was panicking. Will recognised it as a last ditch attempt from the Dark - one last hit beyond the grave - that even though Will's side may have techically won, they're going to take Will down with them.
The shadow demon spat fire.
Will thought, "All right, they intend to make me reveal who I am to my family so I lose the support of my family earlier than I might have hoped" as he mentally prepared to attack the demon, and then had a secondary thought, "but Merriman always told me to whup their asses - it always disappoints the Dark."
Will grinned and sped forwards, before his family could stop him. How they thought they were going to stop him by just screaming his name he'd never know. The shadow demon flexed its back, and narrowed its opal black eyes at Will. Will stopped, shrugged, helds out his hands and blasted lightning at the beast until it disappeared into smoky nothingness with a disappointed howl.
He turned back, affecting a tired expression, yawning as his family stared at him.
"Oh, my god," Mrs. Stanton exclaimed. "The stories gramps used to tell me are true! You're an Old One from the Light!"
"Nope," Will said. "I'm a highly trained demon killer from the Vatican." Will grinned, happy with the lie. Merriman had always told him if he was going to lie, he ought to make it as big as possible. His family stared. Will flickered two fingers at James, and finished smugly, "I'm a good Catholic boy."
