Lily

The scars on her back

All that she endured

She never got over it

All these years

She had it deep with in-side herself

And now there are nightmares

And tears in her eyes

She ran so far away

Only to find herself lost

And out of place

Wondering how she even got here in the first place

She struggles so hard

Fights to understand

And refuses to accept the past

Only to bring frustration upon herself

And hate on those who put her there

And the scars are not fading after all these years

They begin to bleed all over again

She can feel the pain

And she cries out

It's only an illusion

A delusion on her part

Her subconscious reaching out

A part of her dying inside

That wants to come out

Come out and breathe

Until the tears fall

The real tears

And she accepts it all

The scars will remain

Only to cut deeply into her

That will drive her mentally insane

As time passes

All that she has endured

It will catch up to her, someday.

A/n: This is a poem for a book that I am working on. I came up with it one day and it just poured out. This reflects what will happen to the main character in my book, named Lily (hence the name of the poem)…foreshadowing, I suppose.

Please do not steal. I worked hard on this.

You're welcome to review as well :)
