Extra Credit 2-26-08
The sound of the gun was heard all around France. Three different policemen went to the apartment together and found Miss Pross with a gun in her hand while Madame Defarge lied there dead. Miss Pross was taken to the guillotine for Defarge's death and was in line with Sidney Carton. Miss Pross recognized Carton and asked him if he had any relations with Lucie.
As Carton was telling the story about how he got into the jail, there was a big announcement. The man who was dropping the knife through the neck of the people screamed out, "John Barsad will be the next to be killed because of his illegal actions in prison." The man comes out and Miss Pross and Sidney Carton look at eachother immediately with surprise.
Three days later Lucie, Little Lucie, Jerry, Barsad, Mr. Lorry and others mourn the death of Charles Darnay. John Barsad makes a speech, "A man died three days ago who was a brave man. He took the place of me so that I would not have to suffer. There is no way to repay him or his family. He was a great man who was born with a bad name." All of the people at the gathering were very sad but they realized that soon the people of the first and second estates were going to realize that Charles Darnay was still alive.
People claim that Darnay is still alive but no one has seen him since he took Barsad's place. There are many places to hide in the world. Everyday, Lucie goes out and looks for him but so far she has no success.
